Sleep Reduction - Experiment 'Spiral Entrainment'

Binaural Beats sweep from 18 - 5.6 over 10 Mins and then maintain at 5.6 for 20mins to get a good dose of Theta entrainment. (Supposed to be very good for reducing the need for sleep)

The carrier pitch goes from 256 to 220 over the same periods and path as the Binaural beats, this is to assist the user in calming the self and getting into the appropriate meditative state to facilitate the sound entrainment.

Also to assist in heart beat (and hence breathing) reduction, the pitch modulation (for both binaural beats and pink noise) spirals from 625ms (or ~96bpm) to 1176 (or ~51pbm) - these numbers were chosen semi-arbitrarily, if anyone has good numbers on heartbeats at normal daily activity and heartbeats during meditation, pls let me know.

How do you recommend this preset being used? Daily, twice daily? My goal is to get to a point where I need about 4-5 hours sleep a night. Is there a best time to listen to this preset to get optimal results?

Have you tested this preset and optimized it at all? If so, can you send me the latest?

I didn't make this particular preset, but I personally recommend early morning as being the best time to use a sleep reducing preset. I have one I have been developing myself, and I find it works best in the morning, because it then refreshes me and sets me up for the day.

My preset is 65 minutes total time, so I get up over an hour before I normally want to get up, and then listen to the preset, and then at the end of it I am more refreshed and rested than if I have spent more time just sleeping.

I have had days where I have spent almost a whole week only getting between 5 and 6 hours sleep a night, but feel like I have had 9 or 10 hours sleep.

EddyKins is right.& 4 me this preset is more than sleep reductor , something happend to me after listening this preset - I became nicer for the peoples- in a past it was great problem for me .

A comment to motvate: Just remember that learning to sleep less is difficult. Leonardo da Vinci slept only 1.5 hours in 24 hours, split in 4 sleeps, that is a distirbution of 1.5 hour over four naps. Two weeks of hard time staying awake, and you will in your third or fourth week find it easier to sleep for 3-5 hours a night. Also, see circadian sleep cycles.

I've been reading some NASA research on sleep reduction, and their thinking is that a 20-minute (or so) nap has a significant effect on alertness when someone's sleep deprived. The key to successful napping is this: don't go into the deeper sleep levels that typcially occur at about 20 minutes. If you do, you'll feel groggy and out of it when you wake up, unless you can sleep for about an hour and a half.

A while ago I saw something on the web for a device that lets you time that nap. You rest your hand on it as you nap and it measures galvanic response. Apprently it can tell from your hand when you're about to drop into that deep sleep and it wakes you up. I recent search turned up nothing.

I think that this might be a good application for bwgen and entrainment. I have no expertise to create a preset, but it seems like something along these lines would be good:

relaxation for a couple of minutes
A section where you're entriained at a light sleep level for 20 minutes
A section that awakens you--truly awakens you so you can't nodd off again

Total time 30 or so minutes.

I know nothing about this, and many of you are experts. Any comments? Anyone out there interested trying their hand at a preset?

This didn't work for me. I had gotten 5 hours of sleep and then got up with my alarm and turned the preset on. While it did sort of keep me awake (although I think that was my conscious will), it did not reduce any sleep and it didn't really make me feel refreshed. After it was over, i was falling back asleep but I had my alarm set so i got up and had coffee at breakfast. Does anyone have any suggestions or what presets to use? If it's possible to reduce sleep and feel good in the morning, I want to know how because it could be very beneficial for me. I currently require over 9 hours of sleep or I will be tired when I wake up. thanks
