Serotonin

This is supposedly the frequency and beat that serotonin was found to be produced in th brain, as I read in some articles on the net.
It is a very suave beat, with pink noise at 4bpm.

Can anyone give me references to web pages and/or articles that discuss this -
i.e. 4 bpm causing serotonin production. Please post them here and e-mail me.

I am curious about the use of 4bpm. I had always heard that seratonin was released at 10 Hertz. Can you give me more information on what your sources were?

thanks

After about 20 minutes I was feeling very relaxed and started to fall asleep when my lower right leg was engulfed in a warm tingling sensation much like you get when starting a MDMA session. Immediately I switched to a state of high alertness....I was wide awake. I kept my eyes close and enjoyed the sensations for another half an hour until I began to fall asleep again. I could feel waves ebbing along my spinal column. I layed very still until I was completely focused on melody looping in my head. I felt very content, like a happy baby laying in a crib watching a singing mobile.

I have seen research stating that using a tems machine set at 1.05 HRTZ can release human grouth hormone into the body. Has any one tried this with the brainwave generator. I am a new user.

where did you get your information about serotonin???
Is there any irc channel or message board about how to create your own brainwave generator presets.
I've been trying to search resources about them in vain.thanx.

i haven't used it extensively yet, but it brings on a very pleasent sensation throughout the body. at first i thought the background .wav would be very disorienting, but it made for a nice "pulsating" kind of feel. i'm more interested in it for the energy expanding, and i'll tell you more as i go along.

Serotonin is a naturally occuring neutransmitter in the brain. It is necessary for the brain to function normally. It is associated with moods, emotions and memory. It does not cause cancer.

A note on Serotonin.

Thus far, I have been doing some minor research on MDMA, and one of the reasons it is not good if used too frequently is because your serotonin "producers" will...let's say...become lazy and in the long run be impaired.

No serotonin means no more happy feelings. Which means there's not much point left in life.

Hope it helps you guys.

Serotonin is underproduced in many children these days. I have no clue if it causes cancer, but in sufficient ammounts it (like everything else) probably would. However, when someone does not produce enough they cannot calm themselves down. I have seen this personally. A minor hurt or insult becomes the end of the world for these kids, and if you don't calm them as fast as possible they become inconsolable. These jags can last for *literally* hours. I am going to burn this to a cd and see if it will help my friend's son. I will re-post here with my results.

if you wish to play around with your own seratonin levels, then please go and do some research on replacing it with out suffering too much from it's lack.

did you know bananas supply tryptophan naturally.
tryptophan is converted to 5HTP.
5HTP is converted to 5HT (seratonin).
and vitamin B6 is suggested to increase the rate convertion.

and be aware...
increased seratonin levels cause euphoria and
reduced seratonin levels causes serious depression.

06-May-2003, ten
I'm suffering from depression. I've tried a load of medication like effexor and paxil. They work (pretty much) except, of course, if I skip a dose etc. This one works! And within only a few minutes...! Feelin' blue? Then I'd definitely recommend it.
BTW, I could listen to this 24.7... how long is too long?

27-Jun-2003, 888WoLB
Commenting on the banana's or cheese for that matter, they contain indeed tryptophan. Too bad there's only very small amounts present, so one would have to eat 20 banana's a day or some, haha :)

Advice is good though, I think, doing research on it.

However I think that binaural beats (used moderately, as with anything) can produce a very mood lifting (5htp producing) alternative. 5htp has an effect on a lot of functions of the body&mind by the way, e.g. sleep/mood/resistence.

May I suggest:

2,5hz & 80hz & 160hz and 10hz for 5htp and serotonin
+ 7.83hz - earth resonance.

18-Nov-2003, Matt
5-HTP is also availible in supplement form, not just from nutrient sources such as bananas. Too much serotonin doesn't always cause euphoria, it can cause what is known as serotonin syndrome, which is potentially lethal. The syptoms of this syndrome are fever, nausea, lightheadedness, and complete loss of apetite. Catecholamines are all about balance within the CNS, any disruption of this balance causes various mental disorders.

Hi , i just wanted to tell u all serotonin is absolutely vital for human. Extra production of this neurotransmettor is of course quite bad. But theses days people tend to have a low level of is ( prozac and all new anti depressant act just on this by trying to corrupt the enzym that "kill" the serotonin).
Does anyone have an idea on how to generate DOPAMINE? that would be great.
ps. sorry bout my english, im french.

23-Jan-2004, Marc
Ted, I believe you can generate dopamine by taking L-Theanine, and also L-Dopa. There is an OTC product derived from fava beans (Mucuna pruriens) called HGH Dopa 400 made by America's Finest, Inc.

Train yourself to think in happy, possitive terms and this will increase seratonin. The more you fall to depression by obsessing, the lower your seratonin will go. Watch funny movies, push negative thoughts out immediately and replace them with possitive thoughts. Tell yourself you can do it, and you will. No matter what you are going through, there is always a possitive response. Talk to God.

seretonin is bad for people with depression

08-Nov-2004, me
okay. You can run out of serotonin. It doesn't happen very often but it is possible. Not all depressions are a choice. Some are, but that's not to say all. My mom has clincal depression. not sure if it's her choice or not, but off her meds she's super-misserable and argumentative. My dad has bipolar. That isn't a choice. I know this for sure. Oh yeah, it's also mixed in with schitzophrenia (makes for a very unhappy upbringing) which causes strange emotions. Both those two deseases are linked with the amount of serotonin in the body.
Oh by the way, I get most of the information from care workers, university professors, phycologists, exc, rather than the interenet, which can be very unreliable. Especially if it says that serotonin can cause cancer.

03-Dec-2004, Rodent
I used this one for 15mins, later that night I was out of it, is very effective to increase serotonin. But you need to find the correct amount of time to do it as doing it for 15mins I experienced Serotonin Syndrom (that can be fatal). I will try for 5mins the next time I feel my serotonin levels are low.

10-Jan-2005, Frederic
From my own experience I can say that Serotonin, however good it may sound, should only be suppied by the brain and no drugs should be taken to up levels. Stick to eating Bananas and if you need to laugh, smoke some weed and watch Britney Spears trying to act in Crossroads! My Mother suffered MILD depression and as soon as she was put onto a course of SSRi's she became worse and seven years on and off of SSRi's she jumped of a cliff and killed herself. My Dad has been taking SSRi's for a little while to help keep him happier and he has recently been diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer - If there is no link between all of this then why are there so many articules on the web saying "There is no link between serotonin and cancer"...who said there was?

Pleasant music has been said to stimulate mood by elevating Seratonin levels in the brain. Can we conclude therefore that Mozart cause cancer?

19-Feb-2005, Lesamericanboisey
OhYYeah Baby! SSRI's are dedicated to balancing seratonin in the brain by selective preventative reuptake. If medical science thought flooding the brain of a depressed subject was a safe cure, wouldn't they be prescribing seratonin by the truckload? Also there is a different effect of different SSRI's on the same person. Paxil sucked for & gave me nasty thoughts. Zoloft is 90% just fine. Go figure. Different strokes. Also if you want to see the effect of eating too many bananas--take a look at monkeys!

A good at www.rense.com/general/pro.htm

"Elevated serotonin is found in: psychosis or schizophrenia, mood disorders, organic brain disease, mental retardation, autism and Alzheimer's. While low levels of the metabolism of serotonin (which also produces high serotonin), are found in those with: depression, anxiety, suicide, violence, arson, substance abuse, insomnia, violent nightmares, impulsive behavior, reckless driving, exhibitionism, hostility, argumentive behavior, etc. The drugs increase serotonin and decrease the metabolism of serotonin leading to any and all of the above results."

I agree with poster concerning DOPAMINE. Also, GABA and Acetylcholine.

According to the book "The Edge Effect", by Dr. Eric Braverman, those four (the above three plus serotonin) are the four primary neurotransmitters of the brain. In fact, many more people have a GABA dominant brain than a serotonin dominant brain.

Anyway, deficiencies in one or more of those brain neurotransmitters can be the cause to various mood disorders - and even many physical symptoms.

The optimal situation of course is one where brain neurotransmitters are at optimum levels and relatively balanced with each other.

It would be interesting to see if any of our technical experts (this is WAY above my head - other than as a user) could but together a pre-set that includes the production / secretion / release of all four of those neurotransmitters... or at least provide opersets with other options available. Such as dopamine (I took the test in Dr. Braverman's book and found out that I am not only Dopamine dominant but had significant dopamine deficiency and moderate GABA deficiency - and was moderately okay in the serotonin area).

Also, Dr, Braverman discusses CES (Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulator) devices in his book. Very favorably. Don't know if that type tech can be duplicated with this technology into a preset, but could be an interesting experiment possibly???

As a victim of anxiety who has been on SSRI's for several years, I have to say, this preset, makes me feel calm, relaxed, and sleepy. In fact, it feels exactly like the meds did when I first started taking them. Fantastic!

12-Mar-2005, victorzed
In fact, after listening to this present for > 20 minutes, I experienced a flushed, red face, the likes of which I haven't seen since I first started taking Paxil 4 years ago.
If you take your meds at bed-time like I do, you will instantly relate to the flushed effect, then feel warm, drowsy, and calm. Thanks so much!

For all those retarded Seratonin coments, Seratonin ratios are regulated when the brain is in Theta state for 15 minutes or longer. If you were smart, just design a preset for a Theta sweep. Duh... Oh and Dreams are a natural way for the brain to regulate seratonin levels. Try dreaming. And always remember... too much of something will always hurt you. So dont overdose.

I have a couple of questions about serotonin - when Merck's fen-fen was discontinued becos it was found to cause a pulmonary valve disorder, it was precisely becos it caused too much serotonin to form outside the brain where it did its damage.
Yet at the same time i know that lots of serotonin is synthesized in the gut, doesn't this serotonin circulate too ?

19-May-2005, Greg
Messing with your natural seratonin levels in ANY WAY can lead to tragic results. Trust me...due to a neck injury I was addicted to opiates, which interfere with your brain's natural processing of seratonin. Now, a year off of opiates I am an emotional blank. I can feel sadness, grief, stress, anger...but no happiness, good feelings, joy. I just pray it comes back. But I will never mess with chemicals again.

how often should this be listened to? and also how long is too long?

You gotta listen to it for at least 10 minutes for any noticeable effects.

And even then it's subtle.

Very interesting preset. I just started with this program and I am impressed.

When I saw that this program increases serotonin, I'm curious to know if there's a preset for increasing dopamine levels. I know the side-effects of dopamine, but I'm trying to see if I can induce schizophrenic-like symptoms.

"Boneslayer

Actually, I believe that just about anything can give you cancer. You just have to try really-really hard sometimes.

first off.. seritonin is NOT bad... there have been studies in monkeys where the ALPHA monkeys.. the ones that are most sociable.. have the highest levels... low seritonin levels are signs of depression and withdrawl.. it is NOT "very bad"

I think some of you misunderstand what serotonin syndrom is, you would experience some INTENSE mood lift before serotonin syndrome kicked in. Serotonin syndrome isnt caused by having alot serotonin, its caused by COMBINING medicines that produce serotonin, or have another effect on the 5-HT receptors in your brain. For example, you cant get SS just by taking MDMA (ecstasy), or even by taking 5-HTP and MDMA, you have to take something like an SSRI and MDMA at the same time. Now, MDMA released ALOT of serotonin, way more than this tone will ever effect. This tone is perfectly safe. And cancer.. well thats kinda rediculous, thats like saying stomache acid causes cancer.. if it does, then we're screwed because its already in us.

BREAKING THE CYCLE
Say, “Be strong. I can do this. I can do this, I am strong”. “Be strong. I can do this. I can do this, I am strong”. (Over and over. Internalize it. Say it and mean it. Believe it.) This is very effective for me. Depression has a spiraling effect. Just like we have habits of action, we also have habits of thought. This affirmation verbalized regularly helps me break the cycle of negative thought patterns and brings my mind to a more heightened level of awareness. And with how much I affirm this is in direct proportion to how much energy (or fatigue) I experience. (Diet and exercize are crucial factors also) But, often times for me, to get to a mindset of eating and exercizing requires an interuption in my mental processes. Just like we must over-ride errors and ‘pop-ups’ when operating a computer, so too we must over-ride errors of thought(and action). I'm not a doctor, but I've read alot of books on nutrition and psychology and I've found that if you practice that one simple exercize every day, you can change how you feel, look, interact with others, and ultimately-how you give. You learn that you can give.

I have read somewhere that to much serotonin can make you sick and make you do a toilet too much. And once I ate too many bananas which made me ill - since bananas have serotonin in them, can we conclude this is fact?

Surely messing around getting whacked up on brain drugs like serotonin is a bad thing - you body is a delicate balance and we shouldn't mess it up by OD'ing on fruit - like
Lesamericanboisey pointed out, look at ALPHA Monkeys - although they don't commit Arson, they still haven't type out the complete works of Shakespeare yet, which if you leave them for long enough they are supposed to be able to do.

Maybe we should look at reducing Serotonin in Monkeys by swapping bananas for Oranges, and see if they start writing Novels...

Something to think about.

To Ted
The following has been published in scientific journals in a vague & unreliable way for Dopamine: 20, 21, 33, 40, 65-85 & 300 of which 40Hz is the most reliable.
If I use PSI's method for the LSD 20.215(which did have a drug-like affect on me but no hallucinations) & serotonin 20.027, which is simply dividing the Molecular weight by 2's you get 38.295
In www.lunarsight.com/freq.htm there is mentioned that Catecholamines, vital for memory & learning, respond at around 4 Hz. [PSI] and 10.2 Catecholamines. Catecholamines include Dopermine, Epiniepherin & the third most commen in the brain Norepinepherine. Dopamine & Epinepherine in the right amounts increase memory & IQ while Norepinepherine dose not. Two other posibles from this websight are 30Hz wich Meg Patterson used for withdrawral verious diffrent drugs all of which increase dopamine and 32 Desensitizer; enhanced vigour and alertness MG

The increase in serotonin will eventually lead to your body attempting to stabalize the chemical imbalance, thus leaving you with less serotonin and leading to depression. presets that increase serotonin are just not a good idea, atleast use very little if you refuse not to use them.

These sounds are incredible, but remember moderation, with anything is the key.

Also, remember that your thoughts create your reality... and to the people who that that almost ANYTHING can give you cancer... you will probably get cancer. I, on the other hand, know that Cancer is not something that I would ever attract in my life.

Thoughts = reality ... remember that.

Meditation reduces excesive Serotonin. Tibetian monks (& other meditators) have shown reduced level of Serotonin in the Brain and an increase of Melatonin which it converts to. Theta has especially been shown to reduce excessive Serotonin.
Excessive Brain Serotonin causes euphoria, Drowssines, Fuzzy feeling in the Brain, Bad memory, low IQ, Violent Behavior.
Lack of Brain Serotonin causes Insomnia, Anxiety, Depression (40% of cases), Schizophenia (40% of cases), Violent Behavior.
Excessive Blood serotonin causes Thrombosis, Migraine (Vascular headaches), Giddyness, Vomiting, Swelling, Eyes oversensitive to Glear, Sensitivity to the weather espcially deasert winds & heat, pulpitations, precordial pain, hot & cold flushes, hayfever, hypertension, constipation, over production of histamine, (asthma?, hypoglycemia?), etc. [Kruger & Smith in over 215 people - also backed up by other experiments]
Excessive Lung Serotonin causes Asthma.
Excessive Cellular Serotonin causes Swelling, early cell death & maybe early aging. Serotonin is the major toxin in Wasps Venom. So avoid loading up on Serotonin food such as Pineapples & Bananas.
I believe this preset is safe and benificial so have fun.

Many nice comments on the subject here so here's my opinion.

There are many factors involved when looking at depression besides dopamine and serotonin levels. You could have problems with your organs or posture. I wouldn't turn to dopamine and serotonin supplements unless you know those are in order.

I've heard that carbohydrate increase serotonin because they clear our the blood of amino acids except for trptophan which does not have to compete to brake the brain barrior at this time and goes through in converts to serotonin. I find fruits to be the best for this.

I would think that your body would not allow excess serotonin in the brains because everything is regulated, so if your producing it naturally(Fruits) than your body would know what to do and how much you need. It doesn't produce it till your brain explodes.

I suffered from depression a couple years back and conquered it fairly quickly, once I knew what to do. I got on the blood type diet, took BHB plus for a month, ALA alpha lipoic acid, and corrected my prosture by stretching my lower back. These four things put me back on top. Also look into Rhodiola.

Don't eat so much sugar, stay of the drugs, be well and think like an animal not an animal telling himself he's human.
