Deep Theta: Complete Entrianment
This is probably the final preset of the Deep Theta series. Hope you enjoy it! I believe it to be the most effecitive of the already very effective preset range. Submitted: 01-Feb-2005 by Phil Hall

What does this preset do?

It is mean't to entrain to a frequency of 5Hz, so: unusual problem solving [×] reduced sleep needed, theta sounds replacing need for extensive dreaming [INT] ; relaxed states, pain-relief (beta endorphin increases of 10-50% reported) [INT]; Alleged Sphincter Resonance (lmechanica)(not good) [TB]; recall, fantasy, imagery, creativity, planning, dreaming, switching thoughts, Zen meditation, drowsiness; Access to subconscious images, deep meditation, reduced blood pressure, said to cure addictions [SS]; Reset the brain's sodium potassium levels, which cuts down on mental fatigue [INT]; Increases sex drive [INT] ; Meditation, Intuitive Augmentation [NEU]; Near Sleep brainwaves, conducive to profound inner peace, "mystical truths", transforming unconsciously held limiting beliefs, physical & emotional healing, purpose of life exploration, inner wisdom, faith, meditation, some psychic abilities, & retrieving unconscious material. [PWB]; bursts of inspiration, twilight sleep learning, deep relaxation, reverie, high levels of awareness, vivid mental imagery. Hypnopompic & Hypnagogic states [NSS via DW]; Military remote viewers operate in this range [RVX] (taken from 'www.lunarsight.com\freq') |

Tried this last night. This day I've been feeling very stress free and happy - almost manic. Very unusual. I feel good about my future, not worried about it as I use to be (actually I see it now clearer than ever before). I'm definately not saying that this preset has caused all this - it might just be one of those radical mood switches - but it is rather strange coincidence... I'll put this on tonight too and see about tomorrow. |

What type of headphones have people used to listen to the bwg during sleep? I have used several types including earbuds, also over-the-head earphones. I haven't been able to keep them on the entire night because i tend to sleep on my side. Any reccomendations on comfortable headphones?

the preset is 75mins long, so you can fit in on a normal CD, but if you want to shorten it just reduce the 'length' of the second section. I Use some over ear ones, I got them to stay on by tieing sum string around my head, lol. |

|
Is it recommended to "Continue playing after the end of all segments" ?
|
| 16-Feb-2005, Blake |
|
Do you listen to this all through the night or just as you go to sleep (no repeat) I am assuming to listen to this 75 minutes while fallin asleep...if only my headphones were more comfortable... |
| 21-Feb-2005, phil hall |
|
To answer both stian and blakes questions, i would think that it depends on what you are aiming to get out of the preset. For example, if you are wanting to use it just for falling asleep then there is no need to play it continuously, but if you want to use it for sleep reduction then playing it continuosly would allow the brain to stay in theta for as long as it needed and you would wake up when you are completely replenished.

I'm new to this so... how loud should we be playing this? So we can hear it very clearly or what? Thanks

|
yeah, just average, so you can hear it well but so it's not uncomfortable.

My favorite headphones to use are noise reduction headphones normally used for airplane trips. I use the ones with the optional noise reduction button, then don't turn it on because it emits a very low frequency tone that might mess up the entrainment. Mostly I use them because they are big, can block out other sounds w/o turning the actual low frequency on, don't fall off, and are like small pillows on my ears.

I've been using Sony in-the-ear headphones, and they stay in fine all night and are very comfortable to wear, even lying on your side. These are not mere "ear buds" but actually are inserted inside of the ear canal. Frequency response down to 5 Hz. Fiddle with the different sized silicon fittings till you find a pair that fit your particular ears.

I tend to use 'over the head' phones. I'm also a side sleeper. I'm also a country boy (not used to much sound at night). I've taken the usual meditative relaxed position while listening. Lie on your back with legs straight and arms to the side. That is also a practice I've heard that works with 'out of body'. After listening that way, I am very relaxed and almost asleep. Within a few moments of taking off my headphones, I am out like a light. :) For earbud use, I got a pair from a cd player a while ago. They have an airtunnel system that replicates subwoofers. very nice frequency response. More convenient, not as comfortable. |

Hi Meta, just copy theta.wav to the [program folder] Bwgen.exe folder, usualy C:\[windows programs directory]\BrainWave Generator\ and the BrainWave Generator will get it. Good Luck, Have Fun & Nice experiencies |

Ok is the background required? I have a silent sound for lucid dreaming i think would be nice

I agree with Terry, I have the same pair of Sony Earphones... they are very soft and pliable, and they do fit down into your ear canal, not only creating a nice, full sound due to the vacuum they create but also helping block out outside noises like a pair of earplugs would. They're the best headphones I've found yet for BWGen, and for other stuff like music, they're phenomenal... run about $40-50, but they're worth every penny... or you could do like I did and take a pair of old crappy earbuds and stuff them in the package and return them *evil grin*

beats should be 4.5 to encourage entertainment, this is common scientific knoweldge, the voice pitch however for Theta being 4.0-7.0 cannot be heard on most headphones or speakers. most headphones dont pick up a response until 10 or 15. read the frequency reponse on the back of the headphones package before you buy it. Sony makes a headset that has a freq response of 6-23. that will give you 6.0-7.0 in the theta range. you may not be able to hear it, but if your speakers cant push it, you wont feel it either.

This is like sleeping, time flies, but when it stops I wake up. Very good "nap" for mind, but not for body. Brain tired? Use this! |
| 04-Nov-2005, manny |
|
the way binaural beats work is not by creating a single 5hz frequency as it would be impossible to almost hear, but by combining two frequencies, 500hz and 505hz or how ever it works to produce a 5hz sound inside your skull, as the binaural sound bounces about in your brain hemispheres, so it doesn't matter if your head phones cant produce low frequencies.

At the Teory side stand "Some people have found that half an hour a day of the Theta stage can replace up to 4 hours of sleep", but you are speaking from hearing it the whole night, so what is right? About how long did I sleep, when i hear it the whole nicht? Is this healthful??? THX harald |

Had a good sleep after listening to this preset - but the background wave has a small pop noise at the end of the loop which is really annoying to hear every 10 seconds - while your trying to sleep (so I'll fix it in cool edit) |

|
I have used this preset for the last three days to help with sleeping problems. I love the multi-layered background sound. I have no problem getting to sleep before the 1h15 is up, but I find that once asleep, I'll wake up more often and find it harder to get back to sleep. The first day I tried it, I must have fallen asleep at about 22:30, then woken up at 1, only to get back to sleep between 5-6. This third morning, I had trouble again, awaking a couple of times for short periods, then waking at 5am and not managing to get back to sleep. I want to try having it continue throughout my sleep to see if that helps. How would I go about doing that? Would I just change the length of the second section, soon after the second sound drifts in? I too notice the pop at the end of the background loop. It only seems to happen on audio mixdowns though, not actually when playing the preset in bwgen itself. |
| 02-Dec-2005, Joseph |
|
I sorted the pop in the background wav just quickly in cubase. If anyone wants it, they can drop me an email. I'm now exporting a 5 hour wav of the preset on to my ipod. =)

Hi, i was wondering if any one could give me some advice, this preset and other sleep presets seem to have a reverse effect, they prevent me from goin to sleep, it happens everytime i listen to them for up to two hours while tryin to sleep and nothin, take them off and ill sleep with in half an hour??
|
| 11-Dec-2005, Joseph |
|
That has happened to me often before, and much more often in the first week or two of listening to a new preset. When I started this one, as I've said above, I had real trouble getting to sleep. After 2-3 weeks of constant use now I fall asleep a few minutes after the second sound kicks in, almost like clockwork. Go with it for over a week. If you find there are nights when the preset finishes and you're not asleep, I find it best to turn it off, go and get a glass of water or something and then just lie down to sleep without the preset playing. There are also many things you can do to allow bwgen to work better. Things like not eating soon before you go to bed, having an activity to wind-down the evening - I find doing something that relaxes my mind, where I don't have to think much i.e. listening to music. Also, getting exercise during the day. Whenever I spend a lazy day without exercise, I'm much more likely to have a bad nights sleep. Late nights and drinking lots, I find too, will have a knock on effect on my sleep for at least a few days after. I'd say basically keep listening to the preset for a week or two. See if it improves, and think of anything that could be causing bad sleep in the first place too. hope that helps |

if you simply open it in any sort of audio editing software and cut the end of each side it will play just fine i think.

Yes, indeed, the click is no longer there. You can use any free wave editor and delete the very end of the clip to sove the problem.

I strongly recomend this preset. I've been using it for three days now, and I can sleep better, and shorter. Last night wasn't that good, but I didn't cooperate when falling asleep, so bed-thoughts are the price I pay for using Theta. Still, I find it very effective!

This is the first and (thus far) only preset I've used with my BWGen. The entire concept of entraining is new to me. Although I've had quite a few lucid dreams in the past, I had never really heard of entrainment or binural beats until about 3 days ago. I work an odd-shift in the military and the past few months have been wrecking havoc on my sleep life. I also have a wife and 3 kids that add to my inability to reach good, deep theta sleep and stay there for any length of time. The only thing I have to say about Deep Theta after my first two uses is: WOW! At first I didn't think it was working because I felt mentally as though I was trying to force something to work (although I had no clue what I was trying to force). But within a semingly short period of time, I had two enormous puddles of drool under my pillow. This has always been my dead-on accurate method of knowing when I've had that D-E-E-EEEP SLEEP. Totally Awesome!!!11!!!11oneone. I feel so wide awake and refreshed after just 5 hours of sleep that the 12 hour work shift waiting for me seems like a cake-walk. |

The first night using this preset, I felt very spaced out after 10 or 15 minutes. I was interrupted by a noise, or having to go to the bathroom or something, but then I started the preset over. I had some vivid dreams which I didn't remember anything about until many hours after waking. The second night using this preset, I had my first lucid dream in a very long time. I'll venture to say it's my first lucid dream induced by bwgen. The odd part is, I didn't remember anything about it until just now, ~15 hours after I woke up. I'm glad something just jogged my memory about having that lucid dream last night. Now I'll try this preset for the third night. Fun. Definitely trying it again tonight. |

i tried this one last night and i could feel it work great but right as i was falling asleep too it (around 15 minutes in) i heard a very loud very realistic crow right in my ears. it was just an auditory hallucination but it seemed so real. it scared me so i took off the earphones. the next morning i woke up to hear crows outside. i looked outside and they were actually there. this is the first time ive seen crows in a long time. Ill try this one again after a few days when i feel better about it. but anyway, it does put you into a deep sleep and its a very relaxing preset so 5 stars. |

How do you play bwgen files on audio cd?
|
| 18-May-2006, DemonciAngelZero |
|
Conversion, I'm sure, has been covered many times. The .wav files bwgen makes are pretty massive, 700MB sometimes. Personally, I use Nero to encode audio files and convert it to mp3's, then burn it off as an mp3 disc (they are still pretty big, 80MB mp3 was my last one) so I get the most out of each disc. Some presets are longer than the 80min allowed in a cd so that's also another reason why I burn mp3 discs.(but of course, some people might just have an mp3 player itself so....)

I've tried this preset twice now for just over an hour each time. I have found it to put me into very relaxed and even hypnotic states however both times I found that after laying quietly with it for over an hour (sometimes falling asleep), when I went to move around, I had a bit of nausea, even as long as 1/2 hour later. Quite a strong preset, I find.

Hey, that thing tossed me recently into total body-paralysis. You know- as if you are awake, but can't force your body to move. I haven't experimented with any "body asleep, mind awake" but I'm sure it has to be it! Happened only one, but still gives me creeps! |

question on converting to mp3 file: when you convert the 75 min wav file into an mp3 file, aren't some of the frequencies that usually cannot be heard cut out? if this is the case, doesn't converting it into an mp3 destroy the purpose of the thing? |
| 31-Jul-2006, Lance |
|
As far as convertion goes, it's a bad idea. This thing works on playing different frequency on left and right ears. Something like left ear 20Hz, right ear 24Hz. Our brain pick it up and get the 5Hz we need for delta waves. Any convertion/post processing will probably distort the frequency and thus losing the effect. However, convert the wave into audio CD probably will not hurt. Still, the best way is get a iPod or any player that have loads of space (20 Gigs sounds good :-D) **PS: Remeber to turn off all effects on the player (equilizer, bass boost, preset profiles, 3D surround, etc) on the player so the frequency won't be distorted. And get a pair good quality "STEREO" Headphone. Your Expensive THX certified Headphone is not suitable, cause it manipulate the sound and thus distort the original frequency. Cheers... |
| 04-Aug-2006, soueusou |
|
With 320 kbps of mp3 conversion rate (and maybe less) you don't get frequency distortion. Frequency distortion at that level may occur when you choose very low quality compression rates, but with 320k you shouldn't, for example, expect that a converted piano piece has an audible pitch different from the original.

Can someone please tell me how you are supposed to listen to this!!! Is this designed for listening to it all night long on repeat, or just a one time thing? Is that also the way it's supposed to be for all presets? I just dont know how you are actually supposed to listen to stuff. I have nice stereo headphones and have this preset on CD, just need to know how to use it. Thanks.

Hi everybody, I wanted to try this preset (because it must be very good, according to your reactions), but I didn't manage to fix the .wav file. I tried to remove the end of the file (a small piece, then another small piece, then another one), but even after one hour I haven't been able to fix it :-/ The link with the fixed file mentioned above is unfortunately dead. I would really appreciate if someone uploaded it somewhere so that it was available for everyone. Thanks a lot!
