I got one false awakening after designing this preset. my friend got 5 false awakenings and 2 LD's in the first try.

Sounds interesting - I must try this then.

When I had FA's I generally got lucid. So if you do Reality Checks this might be a good preset.

I did try this preset. It worked well for me. I got lucid on my first try. Later on I had an FA too.

21-Nov-2003, asder
I tried it and got three lucid dreams at firs night..
And i prepered a sound wave file that includes the words
You are in a dream.
Nothing is real..
And then in the second night,
There was more then 10 lucid dreams..
So in conclusion i can say that good work for this preset.
Thank you..

I'm trying a combination of settings based on your preset (the beta spikes) plus another one. If it works for me I'll upload it here too.

23-Nov-2003, Clark
My combination wasn't successful - but I really believe in this preset which worked for me too.
Tonight I will try it with a background wav file like asder did.

I tried this preset again last night. nothing. no LD's, no regular dreams.
I think i might try photoreading a book or 3 on lucid dreaming. then record a background wav of me reading my mind-probing questions about the books.
That might be an interesting experiment.

Unfortunately the background didn't have a pause and so it was difficult to sleep with it. I changed to the original one (this one) and didn't have an LD.
Will try again tonight...

25-Nov-2003, Clark
Had insomnia thanks to a coffee I took, so I only had one dream and no LD's.
Will keep trying.
I'm thinking of combining this with the Laberge interview. Perhaps with no background, or is the background sea waves sound an essential part of it? It shouldn't, no, or is it?

27-Nov-2003, Clark
No LD's now.. It worked for me the first night only.

Clark,
Did you try the original preset, or just made changes first?

Whats a false awakening? I have never heard of that.

03-Dec-2003, Clark
I tried the original preset.
When I tried the 'combined' one I didn't have an LD.
Then I took a 2 day break from bwgen etc, and the next day, I listened to the original preset and had 2 LD's (from FA's).

A False Awakening (FA) is when you 'wake up' but it's really a dream.
My standard procedure is to do a reality check when I have one. I really know I'm dreaming but I check to be sure. In the 2nd one my watch exploded! And the LD continued!

You can set a pause with BWGen... its in one of the menus, and you can set how long to wait before it plays. If you export it, all you need to do is get a free music editor and then insert a bunch of silence into the beginning of the exported file before you burn it or whatever.

11-Dec-2003, lummer
last night i had FA so this preset works ;) i'll try this night, with hope for LD :)

11-Dec-2003, Clark
I find that this preset works every time, but you need to have a day break at least, every now and then... Then the next day I listen to LD test preset and I get an LD, or two!

11-Dec-2003, Clark
And the LD's are happening after I switch it off (after I wake up from some dream/s).

23-Dec-2003, RogueNoir
You can also add another segment of X minutes to the beginning of your preset as the "silence" (assuming you don't have a background playing) if you're burning to a CD. Music CD's are limited to about 90 minutes so you might need an MP3 cd player in this case.

01-Jan-2004, Clark
I use an MP3 cd player in fact.

This preset keeps inducing LD's as I said, I just take a break from it every now and then which seems to help...

Hey everyone. I just made a lucid dreaming preset last night and need some people to test it out. It'll be under sleep/dreams whenever Nikko gets around to puttin' it up in there. You can also get it from my group at:

www.yahoogroups.com/group/the-development-project

Its under the files section, go to the folder 'THE DEV project experiments'
then go to 'Experiment 2'

good luck

I could stand listening to this preset for only 30 or so minutes before I got intensly annoyed by it and yanked off the headphones, throwing them to the floor. Kinda odd, yes. I did however have some wacky dreams that night, about mansions and hockey players and portals to other dimensions... but none were lucid =(

I'll try doing it without the background next time, as that's the repetitive annoying part in my opinion.

20-Jan-2004, Clark
You could always try another background.

But this is the best preset for LD's...

21-Jan-2004, Suddenly_Dead
Mmm, I might try it with that background again. It's just that repetitive sounds usually annoy me extrememly. Depends on my mood though.

Whatever, I have to get past my stupid instinctive fear with having headphones on and blocking my noise perception at night, and the sounds and such. I can do these fine during the day but the primitive instinctive side of my brain kicks in at night.

28-Jan-2004, Clark
I suggest trying earphones. You might keep them at a low volume - it should work too.

01-Feb-2004, Rob
Hiya, can I just ask roughly how long it takes people to fall asleep listening to this preset ? Cuse I can listen for bout an hour and still not fall asleep. I've been listening to this at the same kinda volume I listen to normal music through headphone (wireless). Any ideas ?

02-Feb-2004, Clark
A few mins, 15 at most. I use earphones.

03-Feb-2004, roark
I attempted last ight to fall asleep with this preset. I never have problems sleeping (out in 15 or less) but couldn't sleep with it playing. I'm going to try ear bud style headphones instead of the noise reduction monsters. hopefully it will help... but i'm very skeptical about lucid dreaming.

11-Feb-2004, Daniel
Hi, if I change the Audible Pitch to lower Hz. Will it effect the present in a bad way ? Because I think that its pretty anoying sound, I would like a to change to a lower frequence like 230 hz

13-Feb-2004, Clark
Best thing, Daniel, is if you just try.

I tried combining it with another preset - and it worked... I've posted it, hopefully it will appear soon.

16-Feb-2004, Rob
Using earphones I slept last night (out in bout 10mins) My dream was vivid ..... but I wasn't smart enough become lucid. Sure I'll manage it sometime !

18-Feb-2004, FreeToad
hey, i tried it this morning after regular sleep, it took about 20 min to knod off, and when the spikes or something hit, for a second i felt like out of body then i was concoius, but my brain was reeling, i suddenly had a really good imagination, like i could see my thoughts clearly in my head, i dont know if thats how others are all the time, but not me, so that was wierd, also, i had Bungle in the jungle by Jethro tull_if u dont know, it, DL it...) stuck in my head really bad and i could like, hear it playing on my brain. thanks for the preset, it was interesting and ill try it again.

oh yeah, i took out the backround when i did this one.

(I'm posting this on both the "LD Test" and "LD Test and 12" message boards, since it concerns both presets. Please post any replies under the more recent "LD Test and 12" thread.)

I very rarely dream (if I can't remember anything, I don't count it as dreaming). Usually, I would be lucky to have one dream a week, and it would usually be very incoherent, with almost no rational thoughts present... dreaming for me was always a passive experience, like watching a movie. The very first time I used LD test, I experienced what seemed like several hours of extremely clear and coherent dreaming... I was actively thinking and making decisions in my dreams! This is a huge step forward for me.

LD test has consistently produced similar results... I've opened up a whole new world for myself! One strange effect I have experienced is that I always wake up halfway through the night, a few hours after the preset has finished playing. When I fall back to sleep, I go straight back into having those super clear and coherent dreams. It seems to set off a chain reaction of effects that continue throughout the entire night.

Since Clark has also found LD test to be very effective, I thought I would try his "LD Test and 12" preset. It also consistently induces very clear and coherent dreams (though no "lucid" dreams... a misnomer if you ask me! In the English language, lucid means "clear and coherent"), but I invariably wake up about five to ten minutes after the preset has finished playing! I guess that's the effect of too many alpha waves...

I'm now working on a dream induction preset that uses associative techniques to induce lucid dreams or dreams with premeditated themes. I've had some success, but nothing consistent... could just be a placebo effect. Is anybody interested in working on this with me?

Does anybody have any advice on how to use LD Test to induce LUCID dreams? e.g., what should I think of as I'm falling asleep?

Last night was weird sleeping with this. No actual lucid dreams, but I dreamt about discussing lucid and "ordinary" dreaming in this site. I never remember that damn reality test... I've had only one lucid dream, without BWGen.. mostly it's just as described above - dreaming _about_ lucid dreams, not having them.

But anyway.. I think this preset worked, but I don't enjoy the sound at any volume, so it makes my dreams darker and a bit more nightmarish than usual.

this preset works great! had several LD's every night while using it for like 3 nights straight. the 4th night i used it, my mind was too tired to stay awake, so thus it hadnt worked. my advice: dont listen to it the ENTIRE night, the headphones become obtrusive and pretty much wake you up in the middle. instead, listen to it for like 20 mins or so until you get the drowsiest you can possibly get, then turn off the cd player and remove the headphones. works like magic. also, try to take a break every few nights or so to let the mind rest.

OK.. I lowered the background volume to 20%. Will test and report tomorrow.

Just listened to this for half the night (headphones fell off)

I had some crazzzy vivid dream.. possibly the coolest dream EVER, wasnt lucid but it easily could have been!
Will try again! :)

Didn't work for me. It kept me awake until about 3AM, and i took out my earphones and slept dreamlessly. Will try again tonight

2nd try, had a FA into what could have been an LD, its hard to explain. I woke up (in my dream) and thought i was really awake, so i didn't do anything but lay there and try to sleep. I thought I was up all night but then I really woke up and realized I slept all night. Not sure what to call this, but I'll try again in a few days.

I tried this, felt kind of weird as I was trying to go to sleep. Then suddenly I woke up and the preset had stopped (are you supposed to repeat it?) I took the headphones off and went back to sleep, woke up again several times during the night but no FA's. As I went out of bed I could remember dreams though. I will try again and hope for better luck next time..

Does anyone know if these things work with sleeping pills? I take one every night as prescribed by my doctor and id like to know if it affects the presets.

Why don't you try melatonin? it will help with your ld'ing too..

Hi there,
I've recently been trying out the BWGenerator and have still to gain some results. Other than "heaviness" I really haven't had any other effect with all the presets I've tried.
Anyways, I tried this one last night. I encoded at 64kbps on my Nokia N-Gage. I think I'll encode it slightly higher tonight. (I'm limited to 128MB)

So I listened to this preset for about 2 hours and couldn't really get sleep. I could break up the sounds n stuff but thats about it. I even had a slight feeling of heaviness.

The main problem for me is that I can't get sleep on my back and thus I usually sleep on my front with my head facing left or right. Now, headphones can be rather uncomfortable when your face is on a side!
Has anyone got any suggestions?

I'm gonna try again tonight. Right now I'm gonna listen to a sleep inducing preset then go to bed with this one. :)

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

64kbs seems too low for me. I would use at least 192 or 256 at vbr - variable bitrate.

Mr_goodbar from what ive heard taking pills isnt a good choice while trying LD's or astral projection, might have some odd effects in your ld's.

You have to try autosuggestion.when your listening to the ldtest preset then say in your head 1.im dreaming 2.im dreaming...and so on.it doesnt work for me everyday but yesterday i was dreaming the whole night again.

Wooow!! I think it realy works! Do You know don Juan's method from books of Carlos Castenada? (with hands)... I just looked at my hands and I said: "It's just a dream"! Then I kicked some ass (people I don't like :)) But I couldn't jump through the opened window ;D Simple... I did everything I wanted... almost...

How to use this preset?

22-Feb-2006, Freelancer
I tried this last night, but didn't have much luck. I had a really hard time getting to sleep, and no dreams at all. Then I woke up and the preset had finished. When I got back to sleep though I had a false awakening. Unfortunately I didn't do a reality check :(

I'm gonna try another preset tonight, any suggestions?
Btw, does it matter what background you're using?

27-Feb-2006, Bill Perry
Freelancer,
My recommendation is don't give up after just one try at this preset. It's been noticed that a "break" is good every so often to make the times when this preset is used more effective. I recommend something like every other night, or even every 3rd night. Listening every night usually will just make it not work as well.
As far as the background, it matters not. The only thing to remember about the background is it's gotta be something that's relaxing to you. The best I've found so far, for me, is the stream.wav. it's available with another preset in this category. thought i cannot remember which preset it was.
On another note, thank you to all who have tested this preset and reported on it. I am working on making my next one more accessible, meaning I want to make it a morning-based version to be used in conjunction with the WBTB and/or WILD methods.

The first night I used it, I've got one FA and very vivid dreams. The second night I've got LD. The third, I was not tired so the preset was just annoying. Finaly I got tired and tried to sleep without it. I will try with some relaxing background.
