Search for "sleep paralysis" on google. It's quite a common experience. When you're asleep, your body 'switches off' so you don't act out your dreams, and sometimes you can wake up before it 'swithes on' again. I used to get it a lot when I took ecstacy regularly. It's very scary, but some people can use it as a starting point for out of body experiences...

holy sh*t... um, this just happened to me... except... different. i was dreaming that a friend of mine, for some reason lied on top of me, and was breathing into my ear. but, i could feel something breathing into my ear. my ears were screaming, and i could hear a high pitched noise, i woke up, but i couldnt get up. i couldnt move, i tried to say something, but i couldnt. i woke up and didnt move, but when i finally did i turned on all the lights in my place. but thats not just it. i could feel chills down my spine, goosebumps and the hair on my back and on the abck of my head stook STRAIGHT UP... it happenend numerous times as i was awake all night. ive heard of my friends mentioning this, but nothing hardcore like this... this was messed up. i think im gonna look up wut Chakaras are......

mine is kind of diffrent.....its like, sometimes i wake up after ive been sleeping for ages, but im not totaly awake but im concious enough. and its like my body is still completley asleep but me personaly isnt, and when i try to move i cant and its so horrible. and if i close my eyes if feels like im falling and then i cant open my eyes, and its the worst thing ever. and i have to put huge amounts of effort into moving a leg or an arm, or even opening my eyes. what the hell?!?!

It has happened to me at least eight times. Always the same way. I just drift on someplace I wouldn't normally sleep, and then it just seems like my mind wakes up but my body does not. I feel like I can almost move, but I'm not sure if I am really moving or not. I struggle mentally to force myself out of it, but in the end I've always just given up and gone back to sleep. Then I come out of it as a normal wake up. I've been wondering what this was for a while, I am glad to see others out there with this "issue?"

ok now this is the second time this has happened to me, but it never happened so crazy. It was about 8:00p.m, I decided to sleep until 9 so that i could use my night minutes on my cell phone. So I dozed off and i woke up just fine at exactly 8:35p.m. i knew the time because i checked my cellphone, i said ok i only have 25 minutes so i was gonna go to sleep since i was still tired. i feel asleep and then my body immediately felt forced down and i could barely breathe. i tried so hard to get up, and i could not. this continued on and offf every 5 minutes, until my body woke up at 8:55p.m. i was so scared it even got to the point that my phone was in my hand but i could not dial the numbers, i was so freaked out. and i thought i was the only one, this happed to be like 45 minutes ago, i dont even wanna go to sleeep.

I'm glad I am not the only one. It happend to me for the third time a couple nights ago. I had gone out with some friends after work, by the time I got home I had a good wine buzz and drifted to sleep around midnight. Around 3am, my boyfriend called and woke me up, we chatted for a few minutes and then I hung up. I tried to go back to sleep but couldnt. Around 5am, knowing I needed to be up at 7:30 for work, i tried to go back to sleep. All of a sudden, Im laying in bed and everything in my room looks normal, im starring at my legs, and they start rising up in the air, like someone is lifting them. At tis point I new I was dreaming, but EVERYTHING,looked so real. Nothing in the roomn was warped...like my eyes were opened... My mind was completely awake but my body wasnt, I struggled and struggled to open my eyes, but I couldn't, I tried to move, but couldnt. I was completely paralized. Finally I woke up and new what had happened. For the next 2 hours, I had three different dreams and each time struggled like crazy to wake up. By 7am I was so freaked out that I just sat up and thought about my experience. The thing is, I never ever remember dreams. I remember those four dreams like they were real. They have completely stayed with me. It is so easing to know that I'm not the only one!!

Hi! all What most of you are experiencing is, whay is call bady paralisis, where the double or astral body, or etheric body is just about your physical one... but you are not completed having a astral projection... it is like a middle way... I I do when something like happented to me and I did not know what it was I was very afraid.. and I learned to just take a big deep breath and you will be able to move you physical body again... but for the ones that want more.. try to roll out like your where going to roll out of your bed... and then you will have projected you concsience out of your body... or have a complete astral projection... but be carafull of what you think because everything will be like Alice in wonderland till yuou learn how to control your thoughs... |

Some interesting experiences you people are having :D From my understanding, the paralysis some of you speak of is very much a common experience amongst many people of many different backgrounds. I myself have experienced it on many occasions since I was young, up till now (I'm 25). Many authors/self-proclaimed astral-projectionists (sylvan muldoon, lobsang rampa, robert monroe, ingo swann etc) explain that it is a likely "symptom" which one can expect (and a good sign that one is infact succeeding/progressing!) when one is experimenting with astral-projection/ projection of consciousness/ altered-states etc. Keep experimenting people! but don't if you're scared. It is my understanding that fear is what prevents further progress in this direction. |

Mind Awake Body Asleep:it can be very good experiance, when it happens you should just relax and enjoy the feelings it can be very FUN but you should not be afraid!!! Noone stayed paralized :) It happened to me for about 15 times it startet to happen in my childhood...it passed till my 21 year old...now it began again...at first I got really scared, I tought that aliens are taking me-really without any jokes, but when I read some articales about that.....I realized that is one kind of gift, you can feel a lot of great feeling.

Hi, I have had many experiences with body paralysis, if that is what it is. I have been trying to find information on what has been happening to me. I had no idea that so many other people have had these same experiences. My mom and I both have them and they started happening to us around the age of 13. I'm completely asleep but then its like my mind wakes up but my body is asleep. I cant move, sometimes i cant breath, and even though my eyes are closed i can still see everything. no matter how hard i try i cant come out of it, so i eventually have to relax and then i'm able to wake up. I would appreciate it if anyone has any info on this or just would like to tell me something about it. oh, also the other night i was in one of those locks, and i was trying to get out of it, then it felt like i had fallen out of my bed, but i still couldnt move, a few minutes later i woke up and could move but i was still in my bed. At first i thought it was a dream, but it didnt feel like a dream. |

Last night I had a mind asleep, body awake experience. This had never happened to me before, so I looked it up on the internet and here I am. Here is my experience: I had fallen asleep around 10 pm and woke up around 2 am. I was sleeping on the couch, so I got up to go to bed because I had to work at 9 am. So from 2 am till 4 am, I'm just tossing and turning, I can't fall asleep 'cause I fell asleep at 10 pm and I'm wide awake (I usually go to bed at 2 am). Than all of a sudden, I get this warm feeling throughout my whole body, from head to toe, it was a constant warmth. Than I start snoring, and now I'm a little freaked out because I'm wide awake mentally, but my body has fallen asleep on me! So I wake up immediately, and try to roll over, but I can't! My body is stuck in position, I try to move my head, nothing. Try to move my legs, nothing. Finally, after about twenty seconds I could wiggle my ankle. So I was a little freaked out after this incident. I tried to go to sleep for real again, but this continued about 7-10 more times. I would all of a sudden go into a dream state, but my mind would be completely awake. I would see images of things, it was like they were projected on the inside of my closed eyelids. Than freaked, I would "wake" up, and try to go to sleep for real. It kept repeating like this till I finally fell asleep. So I decided to learn about what happened to me, and I'm glad I came across this site :) |

ive had lots of these mind awake, body asleep experiences... i looked around on the internet and found all of these things on astral projections. i know its real, because its happened to me once before. i was having this maba experince, and i fel like i was magnetized and couldnt get up and used every single muscle in my body to get up until i finally sat up. a couple of minutes later, i woke up and i was lying on my back, and i know that i had started to astral project. recently since ive found out that this is very possibe and that you can travel wherever you want when you astral project, ive been trying to do it. i can get to the state where my mind is awake and my body asleep, but whenever i try to astral project, i feel very heavy and feel like my body is vibrating becasue i am tryin so hard to use my muscles to get up. i want to know how to be able to astral project again, anyone have any tips?

This mind awake/body asleep has been happening for a quite a while now to me. Tonight its happend like 5 times where i give up going to sleep. I mean even though its happend to me at least 100 times, i still get freaked out. Its funny though because someone here said they snore really loud to wake themselves up and ive just recently discovered that trick ;) I have tooken esctacy 2 times a couple years ago, i really hope thats not a lifelong side effect.

Hey, my name is lee and I would like to share a few of my mind awake body asleep experiences. It just came to mind to research on the net for answers. The first time it happened was when I was very young about six or seven. I was lying on the couch and I though I was sleep, but I felt concious, at least my mind was. I did see a figure who was skeletal looking with a hooded gown. He just stood there watching me. I was very afraid and tried to scream but couldn't. It has happened again in my teen years. I was scared at first, but it became a natural thing to me because I somehow learned to wake myself up at will. Note: It only happens to me when I'm very sleepy and I'm on my back. I hear a loud humming or sea shell sound(like when u put it up to your ear). It does feel like I'm falling, thats what urges me to wake myself. Glad I share similar experiences. Any one wanna talk further email me.

Here's another case, slightly different though... I'm 21, and its one of those nights where I was extremely tired, and hadn't gotten much sleep. So after a couple hours of sleeping, I finally awake, or at least i THOUGHT i was awake. It was surreal, my room was exactly in its current state, and everything is normal, and mentally I am 100% positive that I am awake. I proceeded to get up and sit at the edge of my bed, when this weird feeling runs over my body, like i'm about to pass out. As it turns out my window is right next to the edge of my bed, and i collapse near the window sill. And i felt the cold marble or whatever texture its made of, on my skin, my forearms. At this point I'm trying to understand what the hell is going on because it all seems real. Its not like me to pass out like this. I dont know if I was imagining things, but I thought I heard some kind of voice. I didnt even want to know who or what the hell was talking to me, so naturally, I started praying in my head "God get me the hell outta here..." At that instant my eyes open, only to find myself lying on my bed, unmoved. And at this point I can feel that my body is extremely tired. That was the first time It's happened, and today marks the second, although not as weird/intense as the first. I decided to stay awake and see if anyone else had this problem, before I accidentally fall into this state again. I have read up on, and heard of astral projecting prior to this incident, however I've never consciously tried to attempt it. I think one of the stories above said something to this effect: Any/all thoughts can be manifested in this altered body state. If this is the case, which logically, it makes sense, I can see how that can be a problem---especially when it comes to fear. The last thing I want to see is a physical representation of what my mind sees as the scariest thing. I do think that being severely sleep deprived triggers this state though, at least in my case. Well I'm off to read up on "sleep paralysis", happy holidays and thanks for reading. :o |

This is so great I found some people with the same thing that happens to me. This has been happening for a while now and my girlfriend urged me to find out what it was. From my experiences this only happens to me when I am really tired and then go to sleep. Like someone else said it also happens when I am on my back. Now at first like someone said I thought it was aliens coming to get me or some supernatural force doing something to me. Now that I know what it is I will try and take advantage of it. When it happens to me I can't move but I can see and hear. I've done test with it because over time it felt like I could move, but I really wasn't moving much. I did this by putting a phone in my hand and trying to slide it off. Sometimes it is hard for me to breathe while in it so I want to wake up really fast. I also can grunt or breathe really fast and hard so when my g/f is next to me she can wake me up, but sometimes when she tries to shake and wake me up it really doesn't wake me up, but helps me to come back easier. When I am by myself I will try and numb my body (if you know how to do this) then shake really fast and quick. A couple of these gets me out of it. I've now come to the point where I know it's going to happen and I'll fool around with it because I can kind of control it and then just shake out of it before it gets too deep. Like in it for a couple of seconds. I've never went back to sleep while in it because that was pretty scary to me, but now that I know it isn't harmful I will stay in it and try things. I'm going to read more about it, but what kind of good things can come of this. Can someone elaborate more on if we are special people and what positive things can we make of this.

Hi I am 26, years old and this has been happining to me for years. This mostly happens when I am sleeping in a uncomfortable position, like on the couch, in the car, or sleeping on two pillows. This is not a good feeling to me. I've never had a seizure before but it feels like what i think a seizure would feel like. The only way that I can get out of the trance is if I start wiggling my finger. anybody else? One more thing it makes my head feel kind of fuzzy inside.

It's weird to read all these stories about this happening to other people. It's been happening to me since I was 3 years old. It stops for a couple of years then it comes back. It feels as if you cannot move and it is really hard to breathe. I calm myself down when it does occur and then I wake up. Many times it happens 2-3 times a night and I just have to be patient until it goes away. It's very scary sometimes.

I know this will seem weird, but the Second time this happen to me, my eyes were open, couldn't move anything. Out the coners of my eyes I could see an image of what look like and old lady standing next to me looking up at the wall across from where. I was 17 at the time trying to call for help. Terrified>. I got a few more experince without the whole image thing. Then it stop for about a couple years. It started up I have had some where I know I am dreaming, but when I move in my dream it feels real, colors are vivid and it feels like I am leaving my body and I get scared and wake myself up. Oh, I seem to have these experience when I sleep on my back.

It happened to me for the second time last night ... during a full moon (of all times). the 1st time was about 7/8 years ago. Lying on my back. wide awake but not being able to move anything. AND I had a distinct feeling that something urged me to turn my head left to see something, but i couldn't. it lasted about 5 seconds but felt like forever. Since then I've moved and live on my own now. and last night, i woke up again, couldn't move, same scenario, except for 1 thing. this time i feel like briefly saw what was holding me down because i could look in the mirror! but as soon as i did it was gone again. I can only describe as a figure beneath my blanket, it was quite shapeless ... I pray never to have this experience again ... but it's strangely comforting to read I'm not alone. |

This happened to me last night & has happened before. I was sleeping & my mind woke up. I could not move my body & it scared me. I remember telling my husband that if he ever heard me groaning in my sleep to wake me up. (I've had nightmares & couldn't wake up). This was different, I was not dreaming, just wide awake. So I remembered what I had told my husband so I tried groaning (I could not speak) and seemed that I could move one leg. It seemed like I was doing this for a while when my husband woke me. He did say I was groaning & I was moving a leg (although moving a leg didn't wake me). I also felt what I thought was our little dog walk around the top of my pillow & down the side of me. (dog wasn't in the bed & felt more like a cat-I've had one pass over 11yrs ago). I was lying on my side & hadn't been sleeping as good as usual). I've had 2-3 incidents yrs before when I was sleeping that I felt like something was pulling me in deeper & deeper so I'd alway wake myself up (I was able to then) because I was always afraid that I wouldn't should I get "drawn" all the way in. Related to this astral thing, I don't know. I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one who's experienced this. I'll be doing research on this for I know nothing about this & this is the first site I've checked out. I welcome any comments.

Hiya This has been happening to me since I was young, I am now 38. My son is now experiencing it and is quite frighten. We are a very spiritual family any ways. But in the past I have actually turned lights on, changed my sons nappy, although this hasn't really happened because I am still asleep or though it has been so life like. I am just used to it now and as soon as it has happened I just get up, although it can still be scary it's something I have had to except. My son however feels people sitting on him and can hear voices afterwards, this being the spiritual side of him coming out to, I have had to explain to him that he has to live with it now and maybe should think about sitting in a circle. |

I am glad that I not the only one experiencing this kind of weird stuff. Everytime I take a nap in the middle of the day, lying only on my back, I experience all kinds of weird stuff. I am awake but my body is still asleep. I hear bubbling noises in my head. I sometimes can't move and sometimes I have out of body experiences. I have never gone completly out of my body. I get scared and pull my self back. I also see and talk to people that are not their. I had a conversation with my little brother one time. When I was fully awake, I asked my mom what time my brother left and she said he was never there. Its got to were I can control these experiences. Its also got to the point were I can control my dreams. I dont know how I do it but I can. I am a very spirtual person and a strong christian. I wonder if its God teaching me or talking to me. I have other experiences that I will not talk.

Wow, I have been telling my friends about this for the past few days, noone could relate. I am 26 yrs old and I have never experienced anything like this before in my entire life until about 4 days ago. I have read everyone elses experiences, but mine have a few different twists to them. Here is what happened... I was talking to my friend on AIM and he wanted to come over, but he had a few things to do. I was tired so I decided to lay down in bed until someone called and woke me up (I put the phone next to the bed). I live in a studio apartment by the way... anyways... I am sleeping and I hear someone at my apartment door opening it, or trying to.. when I heard this, I was completely concious mentally at least it seemed like it. I tried to get up (and expected to be able to normally) and I couldn't wake up, I couldn't even open my eyes. I was fighting to open my eyes, trying as hard as I could and I couldn't. I was completely terrified. It seemed so real like someone had come into my apartment and was standing next to my bed, I heard keys jingle and I heard a little laugh. Not an evil laugh but just like a giggle and I was trying to open my eyes to look and see but I couldn't. I had this horrible feeling someone was standing next to me and I couldn't move or open my eyes or turn my head. I seriously thought someone had really come in and did something to me based on the audible things I heard and the feelings I got. It seemed like a min or so later and I woke up completely normal and jumped out of bed and looked and my door was locked still (of course). It was a horrific experience.. I had dreams before but this wasn't like a dream, it was like exactly what everyone else is saying.. my mind was awake but my body was still asleep. 2 days later it happens again, almost exactly the same way except for a couple of things were different. This time I heard the door handle jiggle again, and my mind woke up.. but then I could hear the door handle jiggling violently and continuosly throughout the whole experience, like someone was desperately trying to get into my apartment. The jiggling noise lasted for what seemed 5 minutes straight, and it was awful... horrific actually... but I was in and out of reality it seemed. The whole time I could not open my eyes. At a certain point during this, I remember being able to see, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't open my eyes. It seemed like I could see normally and I was lying on my back, and I was looking down at my feet I got this strange feeling I never felt before in a dream, it was kind of like the falling dream sensation, except I wasn't falling, it was like my body was slowly sliding towards the right and down to the foot of my bed diagonally and I was observing it happening. Shortly (I think so, not sure) after this, I woke up and was in a normal position on my back. This just started happening 4 days ago and has happened twice in 4 days. I am kind of afraid to goto sleep in fear that it will happen again. It was like a horrible nightmare that I could not wake up from, and I never remember my dreams.. but I remember these... it's like someone or something is coming into my apartment when I am sleeping. I thought of a bunch of crazy things that could have happened, and I am glad to come here and read other peoples similar experiences. Anyone else able to see at any point? or sense that someone is there and you can't open your eyes or turn your head to look? Jeff |

Wow, I'm glad that I found this web site. This frightening experience happened to me last night for the first time in my life. Many times I have woke up to find an arm or a leg asleep, but this experience was 100 times more frightening and frustrating. I fell asleep around 1am. I seldomly have nightmares, but the dream I was having quickly escalated into one. I was dreaming of driving down a local road late at night. For some reason I got really scared in the dream and started looking out the side window. I saw dark ghostly figures and heard voices. I couldn't make out what was being said, but I do remember hearing "dark spirits". The shock of seeing these figures and hearing these voices instantly frightened the heck out of me and my eyes opened. I was on my back, which was weird because I never sleep on my back. I can't fall asleep on my back. So I must have rolled over or been pushed over in my sleep. I could see the ceiling and part of my wife laying beside me. The fright that I experienced in the nightmare was one of the extreme ones that normally make you want to raise up upon awakening to look around and calm down. However, as soon as my eyes opened, I felt extremely heavy and I could not move. It was as if I were pinned down or being sat on. I tried with everything in me to move, but I couldn't budge a finger. My eyelids were open, but I couldn't even move my eyes. I tried screaming to awake my wife, but I couldn't make a sound. I was barely breathing, and I tried with everything in me to yell or groan loud enough to awake her, but I couldn't. The only sound that I could make was a faint groaning/squeeking noise with my breath. I have never been so terrified. I was praying so hard for God to get me out of this experience. My left arm slowly came to life and I was able to grab my wife who rolled over and caused me to wake up. It was a terrifying experience, and I hope that I don't have to go through it ever again... but at least I know now that others have experienced it as well. It was just very freaky, and all I could think about was "dark spirits"... (whatever they are suppose to be) and a story that my dad has told about an experience he had: He was asleep on a couch at my grandmothers old house many years ago. Now this house was built over a century ago and the upper floor used to be rented out, and apparently it was a rough place to hang out. People have supposedly died in the house, and my dad even uncovered writing on an upstairs door that read "You will die tonight dalig" that had been painted over multiple times in later years. Anyways, he was asleep on a downstairs couch and awoke to the feeling of being pinned down. He spoke of how he could not move a single muscle as he fought to get up. He always thought it was something paranormal that restricted him. Him and others have had many other paranormal experiences in this home... voices, footsteps, weird feelings, etc. It just seems odd that I'd experience this body paralysis while trying to escape from a nightmare of "dark spirits"... hopefully just a coincidence. Does this paralysis occur at random, or does it usually follow a sudden awakening from a nightmare? Please email me if you have a similar experience. Thanks, David |

Hey all.... Pretty scary, somes of your experiences... I had never such situations not to have the control of the dream or feeling... As I was around 7 Years old as I first got a situation when I was lying in my bed and having the feeling of changing my position, like slowly fallin down and driftin`... At first I was wondering what i felt there but it felt pretty interessting like a funny feeling that not seems to be normal. I knew i wasnt dreaming, cause i knew that i was lying in bed and As i opened my eyes after a few minutes to see if was still lying in my bed, that feeling was gone and i was liying in my bed in the same position as at I closed my eyes. It happened some times more again but not so often, but always the same... always the same feeling... since around 5 Years now, I had some nights in the same way after lying to bed and trying to get asleep, another feeling that overcome me... My eyes are closed and I can feel that I´m lying in my bed. Then a feeling overcomes me and it feels like the room is gettin bigger, In some way I can feel that I am in a really Big room, i t feels like there are no walls around me... My eyes are still closed and I dont want to open them because the feeling is so interessting. I am still not fallen asleep and check everything thats happening.... But when I open my eyes and see my room the feeling is gone... It happens from time to time again.. till today... But i have learned the longer I keep my eyes closed and let the feeling work... the crazyer is the Moment when I open my eyes its like all walls moving in front of me and then i realize my room... I try to work on with that... please keep telling about your overnatural Feelings in this forum, I am very exited about them^^ So far``` Bye Dragon |

Hello everyone. I've read all your comments, and I can understand how scarey this must have been for you. Know that what is happening to you is natural, and that you are in fact, very lucky. I've been training for six years just to attain the state you all acheive accedentally, and some of you more often then others. Why would i want to experience this? Someone has already mentioned OBE (Out of Body Experiences) but others know it as Astral Projection. Once in the state where your mind is consious and awake, you can send it out, and your body stays behind. You can travel far away, and see things actually happening. You've all been given a gift, and it's scarey because you do not understand it. There is a lot more to your mind then you know of yourself. I really really suggest "Mastering Astral Projection." which is actually how I found this site. Don't think of this as a scary "issue" that you have, next time you get it relax, think of it as a chance for an adventure. relax, and see what happens, wait calmly, and stay calm if you start to feel yourself slipping out of your body. It's a container and both you and your container will be fine until you wish to return to it. I hope you all return to read this, You seem scared and I think I can help, there were so many with questions, but hardly any answers. I suggest looking up Sleep Paralysis, Astral Projection, and OBE (out of body experiences). Also make note that if you don't have any knowledge of something, you will fear it, so look it up. if you read testimonials it is always the people who are afraid who are asking the most questions, and the ones who have asked questions studied and now understand what is happening to them always tell the most wonderful stories of their experiences. Do not be afraid, this is a learning experience Best of luck and wishes, Deziree, aka ForestWife. |

Wow i seriously thought i was the only one experiencing these things. They have been happening to me since i was a kid, im now 18 and they still happen. When i was younger i used to be petrified and only happen when im on my back. They used to happen alot they were always the same too: i would think that im up cause i can see my room in the exact state that it is (lights off / on e.t.c) however i cant move a single muscle, i try to scream or shout but nothing happens. However after a while i come out of it but it feels like im now awaking! Recently thought 2 news things have been happening Once i tried my best to sit up and i eventually feel myself do it but my body i can see that my body is still lying down! omg i was so scared that i awoke instantly! The second thing that happened (on a different occasion) was that i sensed something else was in the room with me, then i see a black figure crouching on top of my closest but as soon as i see it it immediately jumps off unto my chest. I feel it hit me but at the same time i awake screaming waking everyone else in the house it is absolutely terrifying but if it is a gift i would love to know how to master it! |

What causes this. i hate it ive had 6 times in the past week. i thought it might be because im a night worker and when i sleep on my off days during the night thats when it happens. i know im awake because the one night i fell asleep with the t.v on and when i awoke i heard and saw everything that was on the news and when i finally got my body awake i ran down to my mom and dad and told them they didnt beleive me till i told them what was on the news (my mom thought this odd as she came in to check on me like 2 seconds before the news was on and i was fast asleep) it is really freaking me out to the point i dont want to sleep. but im glad to see im not on my own |

I LOVE IT! it happens to me mostly when i take naps during the day. i used to hate the paralized feeling and would be somewhat scared about the experience. now i love it because i've been able to control it and its better than any drug i've ever done. It's pretty cool i can pretty much think of what i want to see and most of the time i'm able to have a controlled hallucination. my favorite is to try to imagine a girl in the same room as me and have her come to my bed. i feel her climb onto the bed and i actually 100 percent physicaly feel the bed indenting from her getting on it. i'm a big fan of sleep paralysis. don't be afraid people |

hello, just like all you guys i have been experiencing this for months now, and got really scared last nite when i fell asleep watching friends and then i woke up (sort of) still watchin friends but i couldnt move my body at all. i could see and hear the tv and i almost thought i had awakened and iwas paralysed. i tried to shout my family becuase i started to get scared as it usually only lasts a few seconds and i seemed to of been paralysed for ages. although i couldnt scream i could just groan. when i started to struggle i finally woke up properly and was really nervous and thought it was all a dream. although as i looked at the tv i noticed that friends was still on and that i hadn't missed a little bit of the episode. wow. i was really scared at work today and told one of my friends he'd never heard of anything like it before. i was thinking of going to see my gp i was that scared but i thought id look it up on the web first and thankfully i found this site which has calmed me down alot. to be truthfully honest this only started happening after i started taking ecstacy so wondering if this is some sort of side effect as i notice a few other people have mentioned it on this page. anyway i am going to go and look at some pages on astral projection an see if i can start enjoying these 'dreams' i have been scared of for so long now. i would also like to thank all of you for sharing your experiences as if this site never existed id still be shit scared!!! thnx every1 d3ell

I have had this experience several times, and each time I have it, it seems to get worse. I wake up, or at least I do mentally. I can't move or breathe. I have to make myself breathe, and that is one of the scariest things, because I am always afraid that one day I won't have the ability to do so. When I have these sleep episodes,I can't open my eyes, I can't move my head or anything else.I can hear all of the normal sounds of my house:the heater, the cats playing, even my husband snoring. I am so glad that I am not the only one who has this problem.I am curious, though, about something I heard a long time ago. Have any of you ever heard that when this happens, there is a witch sitting on you, trying to kill you? I guess this is just another old wives tale. Anyways, this website has been comforting to me because I really did think I was the only one.

Whats up, I'm still here having an occurrence of SP every other night--- and its still as scary as ever. I can suggest one thing however, do NOT to sleep "Supine" Position (laying on your back) , as that sleeping state will tend to trigger this state more often-- at least in my case and from reading further online, others have said the same thing. I would also like to know if any of you can make a correlation between smoking weed, or taking a hit of acid etc, -- or whatever kind of psychedalic you might be tripping on, with the FIRST occurrence of sleep paralysis that you've ever had, or if maybe it occurs more often due to tripping. I understand that some of you say that people should try to control the situation when experiencing this kind of sleep paralysis, as this is related to the astral in some way-- however I believe it takes a certain definite level of spirituality to be able to maintain and cope with that state of mind. It's been happening so much to me, I KNOW WHEN i'm starting to trip in that state-- and I try to fight it before I get drawn in too deep. Anyways, thanks for reading and I'd like to hear about everyone's experiences. |

I am 68 and had Sleeping Paralysis this morning while I was in the bathtub. I fell asleep and experienced this nightmare again! I could hear my husband in the kitchen making popcorn (he doesn't eat popcorn) and listening to Classical Organ music. He wasn't even home. I was paralized and couldn't move but tried to scream for him to come and wake me. It lasted for twelve to fifteen minutes because I could see the clock I have sitting on the edge of the bathtub. It happened the first time and numerous times afterwards, when I was 18. I started working nights and came home at midnight. I'd sleep late and probably too late. I don't think I needed to sleep this long but it was convenient, as my parents were at work and I had the whole house to myself and no reason to get up at a certain time. The episodes were frightening! Very scary!! Lying on my back, I heard voices in the closet, scary figures standing by my bed, the bedspread folds turning into grotesque faces. Awful! Oh one morning I was on my stomach and I felt as if an 80 pound weight was lying on top of me with deafening organ music in my ears. At this age, I'm still having these nightmares but I'm not afraid of scary things anymore so I haven't witnessed anything bad. This morning when it happened again (it happens in the morning when I don't need anymore sleep)it lasted longer than I wanted so I told myself, at the count of three, Nancy Wake Up! The first time I partially woke and was so groggy but the second time, I came out of it. It's not common to have these episodes but if it does occur, try not to be afraid as it's just your mind playing tricks on you. There's nothing mystical about it, or something special, a gift, no! I wish it didn't occur but as I get older and it happens, I just wait it out and tell myself, time to wake up!!

Hello, It is really good to see that there are others experiencing things that I have. I used to think that something was wrong with me because those around me would tell me I was crazy. I finally met someone who said someone told him that it was "A witch on his chest" Some term someone made up I guess. In any case the first time this happened to me I was a teenager, and it's been happening ever since. This is the first time I've ever been able to give it a name. In my experiences I would be just trying to wake up and all of a sudden I would feel like I was struggling. I'd try to move anything and everything but I would always fail. I'd try to open my eyes, and a very slim slit would open and because it was dark I'd not be able to see anything anyway. I'd try to cry out, and it wouldn't happen. I'd hear voices in the background very faint. All in all, it would scare me soo bad when I finally could get up, I'd cry and be scared to sleep for days. Also this always happened to me when I laid on my back.. So now being older, I will not lay on my back when I'm sleeping!

My story is a little different seeing as I have experienced this probally more than any one here. I am a night worker and computer programmer. I have been working midnights for four years. It is very quiet in the office at night. However every hour on the hour the security guard makes his rounds. Often times if I have not gotten enough sleep during the day I will find my self dozed off at the keyboard. I will hear the security guard coming to make his rounds but I can not wake up. I will attempt to grab the sides of my chair and pull myself up and totally project the image in my mind and then realize that I have not moved at all. I will sometimes fall asleep with my hands on the keyboard and totally feel like I am still typing but I am not. Sometimes while trying desperately to get my self out of this state I have gone into a convultion and this is extremely scarey to me. This has happened so many times that I can not count them. I would imagine that it is caused by the fact that I do not get enough sleep during the day and work wierd hours. Also I am a very light sleeper which I learned in the Army. I can be awake at the snap of a twig in the woods so this freaks me out becuase I can hear everything around me but I can not seem to wake up. If anyone knows how to prevent this please post a thread. Sniper |

My symptoms; mind is awake, body either asleep or is state of paralysis feeling of downward pressure on my body (it only occurs when im sleeping on my back). humming noise when i struggle hard i can awake totally many times when i try to go back to sleep to quickly it immediatley returns, almost as i lay my head to the pillow. a vauge sense of evil, although could be just ignorance of the event. eventually i decided to stay in the "trance" instead of waking myself up to see what to would bring. i remember nothing after that and the event didnt return. This even occurred atleast 30 or more times. as mentioned above, lately i did have an "awake" dream of someone lifting my legs into the air, when i shook myself awake and then attempted again to sleep, it occured again. I was tempted to see where it would lead, but was afraid i would somehow fall off the bed and end up breaking my neck, so i made the decision to wake myself up. Hows that for a cognizant dream. |

Hi: I sometimes experienced this sleep paralysis. Along with the sleep paralysis I feel sharp pain in my limbs whenever I try to move. The warning sign of paralysis, at least for me, is a tingling sensation. This tingling is similar to legs 'falling asleep' except it is all around the body. The pain resembles that of when you try to wake up a 'sleepy leg'. Any movement results in a tremendous amount of vibrating pain. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! |

I have at least one or two of these "things" once or twice every 4-5 months. Last night I couldn't move and then thought I was moving and moved myself off my bed (by rolling over). Once that happened and I didn't HIT the floor I then realized that I wasn't actually moving at all. I always seem to moan and groan, but can't actually say words. I push and push and push until my actual body wakes. I then change the posistion of my body and then it usually won't happen again. I have been having these for about 7-8 years (I am 25 now). I find it so strange and get freaked out everytime! I don't like to tell anyone because the people I have told think I am WEIRD!

Last night I had a dream. At least I think it was a dream. Maybe it was a dream within a dream. I saw a black figure like the mothman, fly down the hallway, into my room then over the bed. Then I saw a flow of grey figures, or maybe just grey smoke, follow it. I was more terrified than I have ever been. Then it was like I woke up. I was on my back looking up at the ceiling. The ceiling fan was spinning around. I thought, "hang on, am I dreaming or awake? That fan looks real. Everything else looks real in the room. geez that was a scarey nightmare". Just then I saw the figures again. I freaked out. They were real? I tried to grab my girlfriend. I couldnt move. I tried saying "wake me up, wake me up" over and over but eventually I realised I was mumbling and she either couldnt hear me or couldnt understand me. Towards the end I felt her hand holding mine tightly. Why wouldnt she wake me up? Within 10 seconds the figures dissapeared and I was fully awake. I asked my girlfriend if she heard me mumbling but she was asleep and did not answer. She was rolled over and could not have been holding my hand. I thought "I need a shrink!" I had one other experience like this about 10 yrs ago. I dreamt I woke up to see a strange man standing in the bedroom doorway. My heart was thumping and my head was throbbing. I had trouble opening my eyes but was sure I lifted my head, at which point the man said "its ok mate, Im going now" FREAKY. I dont know if that was real or a dream. Then I couldnt wake up. |

This has been happening to me for 5 years and started when I took ectasy at dance parties. Continually, after a sleepless night (dancing etc.) the next night would guarantee several of these experiences. I too still get these experiences now when I am particularly tired and only when sleeping on my back. At first I would see the room and think I had awoken then something out of the ordinary would happen e.g. a dark figure around the bed. I would try to force my self awake, I would get one eye a bit open then it would close again. At present I just know immediately when I have fallen into this state and set about waking myself up by shaking my head furiously, the pain is intense, I slowly come round and my face is paralysed until I force movement. I too tell my partner that if he ever finds me unconscious to shake me awake, (this has never happened) as am frightened one day I will not be able to wake myself up. It's interesting to hear of similar experiences and I will be looking into the causes of sleep paralysis. |

When the mind contains much fear, worry, or anxiety etc usually induced through negative thoughts/feelings (self generated or from an external source such as another person or ones beloved tv etc), then one sees the symbolic manifestation within ones reality. This is true whether in waking or dreaming states.(Is there a difference?). Particularly in dream states, though only because it is here that thoughts/feelings/expectations are made perceivable much faster than on the physical level with which you are all so familiar.

I am not sure if the same thing I have experienced is SP. Last Sunday night I layed down around midnight. I layed on my back with my left arm to my side and my right arm holding the covers pulled over me. I started dozing off into the "fuzzy land" I kept getting really cold all of the sudden. There were chills all over my body, then I would get warm again. All of the sudden I was awoken, or felt like I was awake. Everything in my room was exactly like it was when I started falling asleep. I felt like something was moving my feet back and forth. I all the sudden felt pressure on my left hand. I could feel my heart beating really fast and I couldn't breath well. I went to say God's name out loud and my mouth wouldn't move. I started panicing. I started saying his name in my head. Finally everything stopped. Then I woke up. I have never in my life experienced anything like that and hope I never do again. I did feel for sure that everything that was happening was real, and I also felt that there was an evil force.

I have had the same type of things happen to me. Only thing is, I have seen beings and none have been good. I have been touched by one of these beings and it was not in a good way. Im note sure what it is but I do know that all that I have had when I am stuck are feelings of evil in the room and only the Bible can bring me out of it. When my wife brings me the bible I fall right to sleep. I think its more to this then we are ready to understand.

One more thing. I believe that they attack us because we can see in both realms. We can see in the natural and in the spirit realm. Just think if we were fully aware of what God has given us. Think of what it would mean to evil! Thats why they want us to fear it. They want this because someday we wont fear it anymore and we will see them for what they are. That also means we will be able to help man kind understand whats behind all the evil thats going on in our realm. I know that some of you understand and for those that dont, when you get, we will all be one step closer to Victory as One

As Alchemist wisely said, it's all the garbage in your own mind that creates your own fearful experiences. You think and feel negatively, and you sow the seeds of your own thoughts, emotions and beliefs about reality. Don't blame "evil entities" for your short-comings and miserable experiences lol you only invite these types of beings into your reality by negative thinking/feeling/beliefs. If you hav read the bible, read it again and understand what your jesus meant when he said that he is a son of god and so is everyone else, that he can perform miracles and so can everyone else.... god gave you free will to create what you please...use it wisely i say lol

You attract "scarydemons"(lol) and other such entities using your own thinking, feeling, and believing, as Alchemist wisely pointed out. If you believe in demons and evil, then you had better believe that something can help you lol whether it's the bible or a special stone or whatever, so long as you believe... but the truth is this - you create/attract your own demons. God gave you free will (to think/feel/believe)... use it wisely i say.

‘Sleep paralysis’, so that’s what this is? This just started happening to me, It happens maybe half an hour after I lay down (sometimes)... I’m 20, and I thought it was the most dreadful, terrifying thing to ever happen...I sleep with the lights on now. It’s not just the feeling of not being able to move, but I feel like something is touching me, putting pressure on my body, and my ears are ringing! I can’t even scream just lie there and pray god lets me move, before something even worse happens. When I am able to jump out of bed, my heart is beating like I ran a mile, and it takes me a while to catch my breath. I thought perhaps I was developing some kind of Schizophrenia, because It felt like something was tugging at my covers, trying to pull them off me! The only logical explanation for something like that, would be that I was going crazy...I am not sure if sleep paralysis is exactly what my problem is, but I’m glad others have similar terrifying experiences, we can’t all be crazy. :) |

I had an experience similar to many of these a few years ago but I can remember it vivedly. All of a sudden I saw a wisp of smoke at the end of my bed near my curtains a bit like when you blow out a candle and a voice said 'don't worry everything's gonna be ok'. I knew straight away something was weird as I this wasn't my voice or my thoughts and just popped into my head from nowhere. That's when I felt my body start to lift off my bed. My body was paralised and really heavy and I could hear an anwful loud (humming) sound. I knew I was moving somewhere as I could actually feel my hair blowing out to the sides as if the wind was underneath me. I was terrified and didn't even attempt to open my eyes. I said to myself 'please put me back down I'm scared'. Then it stopped. I awoke with a cold sweat and a panic and put the lights on, it was 6.50am in the morning and for weeks I slept with my light on. |

my expeience is this, i find myself asleep or if i am really tried just as i dozed off my brain would awake, my body is paralised, i cant breath, i cant move but i think to myself, i am not going to die, relax, then i usually wake up gasping for air. sometimes i wake up and fall staight back into it. my mind is active and vivid, i can hear myself saying that i am not going to die relax wake up. i try not to struggle anymore. i have had this happen to me since i was 8. sometimes when i sleep upright say on a flight or train, i have the same experience. i am paralised again, i feel like my head is down cutting off my air way and i can see what is in front of me. i use to struggle to get my head up as i thought it was cutting off my air. i really would like to know what it is? was i about to die? was i going to astrotarvel? |

This started happening to me when i was 15. It would happen for 7 or 8 months, 5 or 6 times a week and 5 or more times a night. I was absolutely terrified of it when i was that age, i always fought to move my body and always suceeded. Then it stopped for a couple of months and i would get it about 2 a week on a regular basis untill i was 21. One afternoon, i was lying in my room staring at the ceiling and my mind drifted off to the point that it seemed like my mind was absolutely blank, like i had no thoughts. And as i was staring at the ceiling, i heard a voice in my right ear that said : up you go; and i started to raise to the ceiling as i was watching it get closer. About a foot before i hit the top i suddenly realized what was happening and got scared and dropped really fast as if there was an elastic band attached to my back; i dropped about a half a foot lower than where i was actually lying, and then, for a lack of a better word, snapped back into my body. The thing is that i never looked down to see if i was actually out of my body because my first reaction was fear and i dropped really fast. The thing is that it was the afternoon and i was perfectly awake just lying there staring at the ceiling to the point where my mind seemed to contain no thought, i was thinking about absolutely nothing, and i was not tired or sleepy at all. I thought that was pretty trippy, and that kind of turned me off from experimenting further with this for a short time. About a year and a half later, after doing a little bit or research, i decided to try it again. After lying there for at least 2 hours trying to get completely relaxed, suddenly it seemed like a roll of undeveloped film was rolled out in front of me moving from right to the left and the pictures on the film were flashing before my eyes; it came to a rapid stop in front of one picture and as soon as it stopped it sort of sucked me through; i kind of just became into it. I was in my garage and there was a girl i saw earlier that day standing beside my car. I asked her if she can hear what i am saing and if she can see me, and she just smiled like i was asking a question to an obvious answer, then it all faded really quick and that was that. Now i get them sometimes or i should say i ALMOST get them because i get a certain feeling as soon as i lay down that tips me off; then i sit up for a couple of minutes and then lay back down; i get that feeling right away as soon as i lay back down so i just repeat the process. To me it feels like there is electricity going through my body moving from my feet to my head and back down, and up and down, and each time gets a tiny bit stronger; then i get a buzzing in my ears and it sounds exactly like that sound that you hear when a tv channel isnt broadcasting anything; that loooong BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.........P then it all goes quiet, and i havent found myself too willing to just lay there any longer than that, just because when i cant move i feel too voulnerable and so far that fear has won every single battle. Also, through the experiences that i had with this, it seems like a very spiritual thing, and since i see it as such, i feel that only God can direct me to use it in the way it was intended to be used, i dont want to just dabble in this because there MIGHT be some reprecussions that none of us are aware of. Cheers everyone |

I'm not sure if this is the same as astral projection; but I have floated above my body just before falling asleep. Just a few nights ago I had one particular scary incident, which was unlike the others I had experience. I went to bed very early and awoke at 3am; unable to fall back asleep, I moved to the sofa and watched TV. After an hour and a half I turned off the lights and began to dose. All I remember is a very realistic dream, standing in the kitchen with my husband and a friend of my daughter. I folded my legs up underneath me and began to levitate. I remember calling out or trying to call out "Help" " Help me" both in my dream and outloud . Then I was floating above my body while lying on the sofa. I was so scared and couldn't stop it. What sets this episode apart from the other times, was the total reality of it, I KNEW that I was levitating.I was very frightened and afraid to fall back asleep. Have any of you ever experienced a similar "dream" if it is a dream? Some say that sleeping is a state of death! appreciate any replies and comments |

Hi all , good to know im not the ONLY one out there. I have had these SP experiences several times, but just recently they have started happening every night.Im now 22 yrs old. The first time it happened ( few yrs ago)I was freaked out and thought I was slipping into a coma or something. What happens to me is I start to dose off, then I feel my head slowly start feeling sort of compressed, warm and numb (sometimes i hear faint ringing). Then I start feeling very scared ( usually this is when I get out before I go to deep) but then pressure builds and I fall into a very weird state, and try to wake up. I know my mind is awake cause I can open my eyes and see my clock, but I try to move any and every body part and can't. It feels like im in a compression chamber , very heavy weight all over my body, especially my chest and I feel like im going to die. I cant move at all totally paralized. Then eventually ( 30-45 secs) after shear panic and focus on trying to move I am able to move. I am so freaked out after this happens that I just give up on falling asleep for a while. I've told my familly and friends but no one can relate and they prob think im mentally ill( which I think I would say about people like myself if I too had never had the experience) It is a very scary experience for I dont know what is happening, but after reading more about astral projections I am going to try and relax and fall deeper into it the next time it happens. For those who are also puzzled and " terrified" like myself, I really think this is some kind of gift. Who knows maybe we can look into the future or communicate and see things only us " gifted" few can. These experiences are very scary ,but I do feel there is something much more important in their meaning, and we just have to put fear aside. These exeperiences have no doubt changed my life, and I now know that they could be a gift if I could just figure out how to overcome my fear, and dive further into this odd state. anyways good to know I am not the only person experiencing these occurences. Cheers future prophet? hey u never know :) |

ive had the same thing happen to me.. the first time it happened i was freaking out and never wanted it to happen again... i woke up after sleeping all night and couldnt move.. it kept trying to move but couldnt.. so i would relax myself as much as possible and then ide try to jolt myself as if to jump from being scared and finally i woke myself up.. another time i could move one little part of my body like a toe or something and i would try to move it as hard as i could hoping it would shake enough to wake the rest of my body and that sometimes worked.. ive also had this happen as i was falling asleep too.. it would happen numerous times till i was practically afraid to try to go to sleep again.. and about the humming sound.. i seem to recall hearing a loud humming/ringing sound in my ears that got louder and louder till i woke a few times too.. and the one other thing that has happened the last few years too was ive been in the middle of a dream and kinda became conscious to where i knew i was in a dream and i was able to do what ever i wanted.. sometimes even could think things and they would apear in my dream.. kinda like just day dreaming or using my imagination yet having experiencing it as real as a dream.. this particular incident i actually really enjoyed and actually tried to go back to sleep quite a few times and succeeded just to continue on with my dream.. it was great cause i started doing crazy stuff that i would never do in real life.. it was like i knew i couldnt die.. instead ide just wake up.. anyways i think all this is related just a little different depending on the conditions or whats causing it.. and thats what ide like to konw.. if anyone knows a doctor or scientist that could explain scientifically whats going on get him on here please! haha

I am 22 years old and countless times i have experienced a wicked body paralysis where my mind is functioning and signaling my muscles to contract without actually responding to my brain's commands. This happens during sleep and i have absolutely no control. I found out today that my sister 30, and my brother , 28 yrs. also experience this often. CRAZY!

Hi, This is quite a common problem known as sleep paralysis. We have a nerve which connects our brain to our spinal cord and when we goto sleep it disconnects. Sometimes our brains will wake up before this nerve reconnects therefore causing the illusion that we are paralysed or being held down by something supernatural. It is quite common and nothing out of the ordinary. I have experienced it a few times but even though I know the scientific reason for this occurence it is still scary when it happens. |

Sorry for the long post but I am really glad to find this site and share in other peoples experiences. Quick background: I am fairly spiritual and always skeptical. I had my first experience with this when I was probably five. I did the whole wake up but don't wake up thing. When I eventually forced myself to wake up all the lights were on in my room and bright multicolored "gears" were turning on my wall. Totally freaked out, I closed my eyes and re-opened them and my room was completely dark again. Of course my family did not believe me. I've not had any hallucinations since but experience the paralysis once every few years (I'm 34 now) and it has never had anything to do with drugs or a side effect thereof. Last night I had another experience. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. and could not sleep so I went into another room and turned on the TV. I must have eventually fell asleep because I had three consecutive experiences which involved sleep paralysis and I was able to make each one more positive. At first I woke up but could not move although I could hear the TV. I heard my wife trying to wake me up and could feel her shaking my legs, however she was actually still asleep in the bedroom with the door closed. I was able to force myself awake and was a bit freaked out. I immediately fell back to sleep and it occurred two more times of which I was more accepting of the condition each time. The weirdest part is somehow a friend of mine that commited suicide just over a year ago was attached to this experience. She was not necessarily in my dreams but I was overtly conscious of her the whole time. The first time I just described, when my wife was "waking me up" my wife was saying she wanted to make sure I hadn't died like our friend who commited suicide. DuringtThe next two events last night I was able to see my friend "through a fog" and she seemed to be happy and waving to me. During my final "paralysis" my eyes were closed and I distinctively felt a physical, friendly kiss on my lips although I could not sense a face or body attached to the lips. I then heard a pleasent voice but can't recall anything that was specifically said. It turned out to be a great experience once I could accept it. Fortunately I have never experienced the "dark figures" others have described and sympathize with you because the experience itself can be traumatic enough without anything comlicating it. Anyway, I'm still skeptical of a lot but interested in learning more. Feel free to e-mail me with thoughts, stories, or ideas. |

i guess you could say that i'm pretty experienced with sleeping paralysis. i'm 24 and i've have had SP at least a couple hundred times and at most 5 times in a night. i've heard the scientific views on it for the longest time and that was the reasoning i've always given it. but just last night i heard from a friend that he's had the same exact experience during SP which i think is pretty original. It's the fact that you see a face. I've seen the face about 10 years ago and he's seen it about 2 years ago. but we both described the same face-like image. when i saw it, i was on my back and my eyes were somewhat open, everything was blurry except for the face. it was floating above me in the middle of the night while sleeping next to a sibling. it looked as if you couldn't see any details on the face but you could see the structure of it and it looked very ghostly. this is the same face that he saw. he described it as a demon trying to grab onto him. i've read that other people have seen faces but two people seeing the same type of face is just freaky to be honest. it makes me think that maybe SP is more than physical but supernatural. i have another experience which i'll write about in the next comment. |

this specific experience probably happenned a couple of years after seeing the face during SP. One night i was sleeping and in the middle of the night and i hear my sister come home, probably from clubbing. the sound of the car door closing wakes me up a little. i close my eyes and i feel myself falling asleep but i felt something i've never felt before. as i hear my sister walking into the garage and coming into the house, i felt as if there was something following her. for some reason i knew that it was bad or evil if you want to call it that. i felt an evil presence following her. soon right after that, i felt it attack me. This was the night that i had sleeping paralysis about five times in one night, no joke. one right after the other. i was furious. everytime waking up after a session of SP i was very upset. i felt upset at the "evil spirit". i was actually challenging it and calling its ass out. i'm not sure if it a normal way to react but thats what happened. these are my most rememorable SP experience. when it does happen to me which is rarely ever now, i usually dismiss it because i've had so many that i really dont care anymore. |

i love sps... the evil presense will ALWAYS be there as long as your mind is in a state of fear or as long as you expect it. You have total control over the situation and experience but until you find that out it will remain dark and evil. i have put it to the test and now i quite enjoy SP's but rarely have them. i can usually OBE straight from an SP or go into a lucid dream.

Hi everyone As far as i remember i had never had such strong experiences... though i tend to forget dreams very easy. What most happens to me is like when i quickly wake up as if i had fallen from somewhere. Right now i can remember some dreams like one time i saw one girl that i kinda thought i knew but couldnt see her face, then i wake up and never happened or at least i dont remember the dreams but i guess it was a "normal" dream nothing as vivid as the ones described in your stories. I have read all comments here and i fell really want to experience this, amazing stories! The only problem is that i fell kinda scared to try it. =] sorry for any mistake hehe |

Hey everybody. I had this experience today. I have had it before, the first couple times in high school, but today's was different. I had dozed off on the couch while watching t.v and I started dreaming about my first car. I dreamt about driving it, and it was so real. Then, I had the ability to control the dream. I told myself to pick up an attractive lady and boom an attractive lady was in the car. Then I said to myself, let's go to the highway, and boom we're on the highway, but like I said, I thought this was all really happening. Then I thought to myself, fortune favors the bold, make a pass at her. I said something suggestive and she started giggling, and when she giggled, I got this pain to my head. Everytime I made a pass, same thing, she giggled followed by pain in my head. So, knowing I was controlling the situation, I told myself to leave. When I did this I woke up, but my body did not. My eyes could see my hands clearly, and I could hear the T.V. but I could not move. I kept saying to myself, " scream or move your hands." I couldn't do either. After about three minutes of this, my body finally woke up. I really hate when this happens. |

Ok, I've some of comments that say, "Don't be scared...Enjoy the experience...Take a deep breath" WELL HELLO...I CAN'T EVEN OPEN MY MOUTH..I struggle to try to breath...and then sometimes I give up and just await my death because I just can't do it. What is up with this out of body experience talk? I can't move a muscle. I can't think. I'm just moaning so someone will help me. Out of body experience my ass! Enjoy it? Are you serious? Yeah, I'm truly going to enjoy having near death experiences!!! This is so not cool...it's like a disease...I am not comfortable with this...I just want them to end! |

PLEASE READ>...last nyt i had an experience and i was terrified. I have had minor experiences of sleep paralysis where i am awake but cannot move or talk to ask 4 help 2 wake me up. but last nyt was different. I fell asleep at about 12am after reading (i blame this stimulation of my brain so late for it). This time i was awake and im sure my eyes must have been open - because evrithin in my room was exactly the same and precise detail. However, i felt like i was thrown out of my bed and onto the floor. Then i tried to get up but my muscles wouldnt work, i felt like i was being surpressed bak in2 sleep, then i opened my eyes once more and i was lying on my bak in my bed, frozen in the position- unable t move- as though a strong force was holding me down. I then saw inanimate objects moving towards me as though poltergeist movement. but i swear i was awake. Then i had a raw carrot and an ice lolly in my hands and i could hear my sister above me speaking. so i tht "rite i must have been dwnstrs 2 get sum food whilst asleep" But i still couldnt move. Th elast thing tht happend was a flower teddy poppin its head dwn the bunk bed in front of me and a dress moving from the top bunk 2 the bottom. I could hear a high pitched musical sound. I tried 2 shout my sister but i couldnt move. Then i tried really hard until a strong burning sensation travelled from my lower abdomen to my head and i blinked. I could move then. I was so scared i couldnt get bak 2 sleep. If ne1 wishes to talk more..please email me, i wish 2 find out more about wat hppened 2 me.

wicked. 2 nights ago around 2:am i started to fall asleep. well as a was falling asleep i heard this weird electric static energy sound. i opend my eyes as a was lying on my back but in front of me what this awful looking spirit looking dead at me 4 inches away from my face. I try to move a yell for help.. nothing just lost of breath, how to regain oxygen no clue. i was paralyzed except my eye lids. after almost all my breath ran out it stopped and the last bit of the breath from thryn to scream worked.. but it wasnt good enough. i feel that iam being watched everyday even before this had happend i always joked about spirits.. not anymore. .. 20 minutes later i got the dogs to sleep with me .. i put my head under the covers scared.. it happend again.. but i only saw the blanket. so i tryed to yell, move, but nothing.. the electrical buzzing noise stoped . and my dogs had been barking . i wanted to know if they noticed any thang .. but you wouldnt get any answers out of em... Last night my grandfater had a dream he says around 2:AM he was paralyzed , heart pain , and couldnt speak or yell .. as he started levitate up 3 feet and the back to the bed he says it was a dream.. i feel that something is going on in the house.. since we moved in, we have been seeing the ghost walk our hallway 2:pm in the afternoon. i feel that it is haunting us.. i know what it was evil. now i wonder if its safe here .. our landlord lives next door .. he told us someone had a heartattack in this house.. but why .. is it because of something like what happend to me .. or is that ghost the one that had the heart attack we may never know.. so much to say about this place.. .. if you have any questions email me i be pleased to answer. 6slink9@excite.com |

Mine was the same yet more extreme. i was trying to go to sleep, i hadent yet been sleeping, then i remembered my light was on, i tried to get up but it felt like i was being sucked into a deep dream, i then snapped out of it and opened my eyes, then i closed my eyes agin, and felt wide awake, then my body wouldnt move, my eyes wouldnt open, and i was terrified, i was then thrown from my side to my back(uncontrolably) then i sat up in my bed(also uncontrolably), (wide awake in my thoughts), i was then thrashed back onto my pillow up again and tehn my jaw lcoked wide open, i couldnt stop it, i immediatly thought i was being possesed so i started praying as loud as i could in my head, i felt as if a was being pulled into another sense of reality when this was happeneing, as if something was trying to "get" me, its hard to explain, but soon it ended and i didnt sleep for 3 nights!

like many of you i have had this strange and wierd experience. at first my conclusion was that it was muslce spasm's as i used to do a lot of weights, but apon telling my friend he tells me he also has the same experience so we conducted a few test and realised that it wasnt muscle spasm. so now wat was i being possesed? i didnt have aclue, after a while i could tell when it was gonna happen ,usually happend when id wake up in the morning and try and go bak to sleep i could kind of contol it in ways but wasnt sure how deep to go. Further more i have also been quite sure im looking around my bedroom when im actually asleep that was wierd. if anyone would like to experiment with these messy feling i would reckomend sleeping on ur back. Sleep paralysis happens to lots o people and has been described in many different cultures, hence why people beleive in possesion and the devils ect ect.

Last night I fell asleep masturbating. I was on my back. When I woke up, I felt my body vibrating. I had felt it before. I even read books about "visitors" all by Witley Striber..."Communion," "Transformation" and "Breakthrough". These are definitely something to pick up, especially since it is a true story. Anyway, I think it feels great. I was spooked a bit in the beginning. But now I try to experience it. I even have tried to "roll out" of my body (OBG). Once you 'get out' then you can do anything you want, even construct your own dreams. It's great... Just takes practice.

ok wow i never knew that there were this many people who had this! The first time it happened to me i was at my cousins house..we were talking and trying to fall asleep and i doze off a little bit..and i was like trapped in my body..i tried anything to move and scream as loud as i could but i couldn't all i wanted was for her to touch me so i could get out of it..so she touched me and i woke up and freeeakked out!! i called my mom to tell her about it because i thought it was some evil thing taking control of me and she just told me i was having a bad dream! It happened to me a lot usually at my cousins house..and twice at my house...this is nuts..

This has happende to me several times. most times I just hear whats going on in the room but can't move and then fall back to deep sleep again and wake up normally later. There was one time that it was really scary though. I was out of town on a business trip and staying in this scary hotel that reminded me of the shinning. I fell alseep on my stomach with my arms curled up under me and i "woke up" in the middle of the night and thought someone was holding me down on the bed. I thought i heard voices too. My eyes were open I think cuz i saw my cell on the bedd and kept thinking "Maybe I should try and grab the phone and call 911" I tried and tried to move my arms to reach out and grab my phone but nothing happened. Then i felt this tingle or chill that entered my body in my lower back and went both towards my head and feet and then i could move. At first i thought the hotel was haunted and that some ghost was trying to hurt me (i know its stupid but i was scared). But after reading on sleep paralysis i found out that thinking its ghosts is a common part of it. Then this weekend i was sleeping in my cummfy chair and I woke up cuz i heard the tv, i was listening to a show on WW2 and even heard the commercials and my cat meowing for food, but i could not move and no matter how hard i tried i could not open my eyes. It was 2pm and the sun was coming in the window so i could see light thoruhg my eyelids but they would not open. I tried to open them with my hands but they would not move either. I blew it off as my body saying "Dude keep sleeping" cuz i had just played 18 holes of gold and worked in the yard and washed the car. i went back to sleep and really woke up a little while later. It was strange. it happens to me quite often, maybe once a month or so. |

I experienced this awake asleep after my father was murdeder. I was tramatized as a little girl because i had no control of my body during these episodes and i felt trapped. I still have it regularly and have understood that when i pray and take authority over this problem it leaves. I have been at the point were i could not breath. I confess i have waken up from my sleep to find that i am in a difrent space and time. I am a woman of faith and i reject this from happening. The spiritual relm was not made for the flesh. Dilibrate astro-progection for long periods of causes aging and might result in cancer. The body is not strong enough to exist in this realm. This is why people cannot see God and live. There is real danger if you don't pray. I have come into contact with pure evil. I can say that know the only thing that saved me was calling on the name of Jesus. Evil hates that word. There is danger many people aprach this lightly and some never woke up. I get scared like those of you out there. Just think of Jesus and he will lift the darkness by the light of his love. I am not judging any one. I just know what it is like to be alone in the dark and to think that you are going to die. So i am sharing my night light -Sleep peacefully |

I experienced this for the first time earlier in this year and a few since then. I found a way to go into this state deliberately but unsure of what it was I was experiencing I was hesitant to do it often. After reading some of these comments I am not certain that it is as "evil" as I though it was. I am always on my back and every time my mind will awake and as soon as I realize I can't move my body I start to panic. My eyes have always been open though and able to see the room around me. I start to dart my eyes around searching for help I suppose and begin to see shadows in corners and on ceilings. They all start to move and take the shape of a dark cloaked figure. They have recently gotten closer and closer to my face each time I go through this. But the last time one (I say one because although I am not sure I have ever seen others in the room I have a strong feeling that there are others) got inches from my open eyes and I saw a blurred image of eyes and teeth looking at me smiling. Each time I experience this I begin to pray because of the strong feeling of this being a demon or dark force of some kind. That usually works along with trying really hard to move my fingers and toes in an attempt to touch or feel anything real and material. After looking on the internet today to find any information on this at all this was the first site I came across. Reading all of your stories and testimonies helps me feel like I may be able to talk about this to others without feeling totally nuts. I am a journalism major at my university and have an editorial to write soon, and I believe I have found my topic. If any of you would like to share any other experiences you have had feel free to email me or if you want to know the ways in which I have found to deliberately enter this state you can contact me as well. I don't feel that everyone should try to experience this for the first time on purpose, it should come to you for whatever reason it came to everyone here. Next time I will try Alice in Wonderland instead of assuming I have entered HEll. |

Just last night I had several "mind awake body asleep" experiences in a row, and I never knew it was so common until now. These experiences scare me most of the time, though. Sometimes I feel like I'm not breathing enough and will suffocate, and I try so hard to move my muscles but they just DON'T MOVE. It's been happening since last year. But yeah these are all normal symptoms and I'm just stating the obvious. Sometimes I'd fall asleep with my eyes open, I'm not sure if that's the same thing, but once I was staring at my lamp and it lookd like a porthouse of some sort with a bridge leading to an island. Strange. Last night was....interesting. I slowly felt my body drifting to sleep, but my mind was awake still. Then I started to hear many many voices....REAL voices, like they were talking into my ear. It was like a bunch of people in a doctor's office, all hectic with nurses calling for doctors and doctors calling for medicines and there was a general babble. VERY strange. Once I was able to move again I relaxed, and it happened again. But this time it was one voice reverberating many times saying "blackout" over and over. At this point I was scared, because it was dark in the room and I thought to myself "Oh god now that I'm 'dreaming' monsters are gonna come out of the walls or something". I was finally able to move again, then I turned on the light and the TV for "comfort". I slowly drifted away to real sleep this time. All in all, the human body can do some pretty crazy things. |

It happened again last night. I've been having these experiences for about 4 years now. Sometimes very frequently. I'm always freaked out and i definetly get the feeling that evil spirits are the cause. Sometimes i call out to God and pray, but he don't always answer my request to end it. I don't know if they are any less frieghtning or if i'm just getting use to them happening. Luckly in my case i can always fight my way out of them. I wake up with my body shaking. Sometimes i just won't go back to bed cause i can feel that whatever is causing it has not gone away.

Hi All! Maybe someone can help me out. This happens to me a few nights a week. I will be asleep, but then wake up and see a figure in my room, sometimes standing there, somtimes moving around. I am definitely not paralyzed becuase I sit up in bed to watch this figure. My husband will wake up with me and tell me I am just seeing things, but I will insist I am not and that there is a dark figure in the room, and the figure never goes away. Sometimes this dark figure tries to attack me and I'll start screaming and my husband will tell me it's ok. I can only fall back asleep when I watch the figure for a long time. I am never able to convince myself this is just a dream, becuase I am awake and moving around. It is not a dream becuase My husband and I talk about it each morning after. Does anyone know what is wrong or how I can stop this? Thanks! |

Hello I have experienced something that I am terrified of...it has happened to me at least more than ten times. On several occasions after Im asleep I feel like I am being touched and held down by force on my bed and I open my eyes and I cant say anything or yell for my mom or even move....while this is happening to me I hear screams but they are not mine...its like they are coming from another place and from a bunch of people. It doesnt last very long but when it is over I get up and my eyes are watery because i try so hard to cry, yell or move and I cant. Then I run out of my room. I had my boyfriend stay with me several times and it still happened to me. Now I have a dog who sleeps with me and it has not happened in like six months now. I think about my experiences and I freak out. Does this also fall under sleep paralysis?

I have had the same experiences, I could see my radio in my room, my cat at her bowl eating. But I couldnt move, I couldnt speak, I tried to yell for my mom. When I finally could move, I jumped out of my bed and ran and got my mother. She said it was just a bad dream. I know its not a bad dream. One time I was in bed and once again my eyes were opening.. and it felt like I was being raised out of my body. again I couldnt move or speak. I just saw what whas going on..

Never thought soo many people shares the same experience as me. it started way back in my early childhood, i was mayB 8-9 yrs old. this "mind awake, body asleep" symptom would come at anytime. maybe even months or yrs before the next one occurs. my mind is wide awake, but have no control/feelings of my body. i'm totally aware of my surroundings n try to talk out loud for attention but all i can do is make a very silence but heavy growling kind of noise. i myself can hear n feel the intensity i was trying to bring out...but there was not much i can do. i felt like there were two parts of me...one of which is me inside of me, fighting this trance, fighting oneself inside, fighting to come out of my own body if that makes any sense, the other is wer i feel completely paralysed as though something heavy, something/someone is holding me down. i wud fight n fight just to get up which feels like ages, n its weird coz wen i do finally get up i wud still feel tired, mayB exhaustion from the struggling of gettin up. i wud find myself asleep again n experience the same "mind awake, body asleep" scenario, until that is wen im finally awake n realise wat as happened!!

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your experiences - after being scared stiff about this 'sleep paralysis' regularly happening to me, I'm a bit comforted now. Does anyone know of any scientific books about research into it though?

As many have already described many of my experiences with this I will not elaborate on mine. I want to add that it really does seem to be that the body shuts down while the mind hasn't and/or the mind becomes alert or awake before the body, sometimes from a dream state or any combination of the above. I quickly developed what some other's have offered here....to concentrate on wiggling my big toe until I actually do have motor functions and can move. It seems to me that these usually are brought on by an aggitated state of mind, either when I'm upset, something on my mind, and I am also physically very tired...makes sense...the mind is alert but the body is ready for rest. It seems to correspond with emotional issues as well. If you find yourself having these, and having negative experiences with these, then perhaps they may alert you to some issues you need to deal with in your life. I've found that they occur much less as I develope and grow, finding peace within. I do not know exactly what the entire experience, if any of it, is. I do know that finding yourself in such a state can be alarming to begin with and the mind is very powerful and not not being familiar with this state induces fear. If we have alot of fear in our lives it would seem to make sense that our mind creates/manifests very scary scenarios based on our inner fears and struggles. Work on making peace within, overcomming inner struggles, living in love, and less in fear. Dig for the causes of your fear. Deal with those issues and you'll likely find that these are less and less negative and may occur less as well. peace love and light They may also indicate that you are not practicing a healthy sleep routine at the time. |

I have had the same sort of experiances like alot of you where you can see and hear everything around you, but you can't move.It always feels as though some on is trying to push me down. It's happened for the last couple of years. But on two occations it been different. One morning I awoke to find that I was paralzed only this time I heared a voice it sounded like it was coming from down the hallway it started to get closer and closer realy fast until it felt like it just hit me, I woke up at the jolt and didn't go back to sleep after that. The voice was a mans, it was another language I couldn't understand what was being said it was like a chant or something. A while later it happened again only this time I was on my stomach I could fell the pressure pushing me down then the voice started again only this time it was right on top of me saying it in my ear. My eyes were open but I could only see my pillow. After much difficulty I managed to get out of it. that was a few weeks ago and it hasn't occured again recently but it alway seems to come back. I'm not sure if this is just begin half asleep and half awake and the voices are just dreams or my imagination or whether there is more to it then that. It seems so real though and I know that I'm awake for certain. I do know that every time it happens I get a bad feeling that there is someone or something bad trying to push me down. |

Mine is kinda like yalls, but i am completley awake. I cannot move a muscle, I can't make any noises, I try to scream out loud for help, but I can't even move my mouth. I can't open my eyes or see anything. It has happened to me several times, but like others it comes and goes. Months will pass before it happens again. But that's not the part that scares me. I always hear the same voice it happens. I can hear a lady talking to me, I can hear her voice but the only thing I can understand is when she says my name. I fight and fight until I can finally move and open my eyes, but just the same there is never anything there. Do any of you hear voices? If so e-mail me.

i cant believe how many people have had these experiences! i used have 20-30 a night god did they scare me. sometimes it was so bad, id just sit there in my bed with my light on not daring to lay down or close my eyes in case it happened. sometimes i heard screaming or a high pitched sound, other times id feel like i was falling, sometimes i could see myself falling off the bed. id try to shout to my boyfriend to move me or say something so id come out of it, it was awful! i used to hate going to sleep - it would be worse if i got up early in the morning, then went back to sleep mid afternoon. in that case i would sleep for maybe 10-15 minutes, be dreaming and then it would happen - i knew in my dream it was happening and i had to wake up. but then id go back to sleep and it would happen again. admittadly though, i use to do alot of e's so i know that is what brought these attacks on. unfortunately, at the time i wasnt practicing OOBE's,and didn't realise these attacks i was having was actually a doorway to astral projection but if i would have been - wow it would have been so easy to experience them! also at the same time i got diagnosed with photo-sensitive epilepsy, when i went on the tablets i wasnt having sleep paralysis anymore, but then i wasnt doing drugs as much either. ive stopped the drugs now and very rarely have sleep paralysis anymore - if i do have it, it doesnt scare me as much cos i know its just a natural process to astral projection. sorry for the long story, just thought id share my experiences!!

Hi I found this site among others through Google. I experienced this phenomenon for the first time this is morning so I got very uneasy and even scared. At first my mind just woke up, then I started feeling like I was being pushed by something coming out of the wall and suddenly I got this high pitch sound ringing in my ears and by now I felt like "the thing" coming out of the wall was lieng all over me and I felt like I couldn't breed - which scared me so I tried to scream but nothing came out - and then suddenly the ringing sound went away and I could move again.

I'm forty three and I've been having these for at least 20 years. Until recently, I thought I was the only one. I don't have any evil visions or any of that. What I have is the feeling that I'm awake or trying to wake up, but I can't. It is very frightening. But I have learned over the years to try to focus on the a toe or finger and concentrate like hell to move it and the rest of the body will eventually wake up with it. I'm told by my wife that I kind of whimper. It feels to me like I'm yelling. Once in a while she can hear me and she knows now to wake me up if she hears that sound. Good luck folks.

OMG,this has happened to me so many times. I can't move, but im awake and aware. I see everything around me even with my eyes closed. but scarier than that i had experienced that i see my own body laying on the bed with out moving,it's like the ghost in me is the one who is awake, when i try to move my body, for example my hands i see my hand laying on the bed i feel like im moving it but it doesn't move at all and the only thing i can see is my spirit or ghost or soul what ever you wanna call it, I swear when i try to move my hand while im sleeping i look at it and i force myself to move it and i see a other reflection of my hand moving out of it, and THIS SHIT SCARE ME LIKE NO OTHER...

Thank goodness it's not just me. Hi guys i get sp all the time, most nights i goto sleep with my arms crossed over my heart thinking this will some how protect me. Like everyone else i cannot move but am aware of whats going on around me. Im 24 now and about 5 years ago id wake up to my bed shaking or the bells above my bed ringing, and one time someone walking on my bed. I could never move or yell out, and someone told me to say in the name of god i command u to leave so i use to think that in my head. When something was walking on my bed i somehow sat straight up and screamed out a swearword. Then looked for footprints. Eventually i got use to my bed shaking all the time but it was still really scarey i'd think to myself just calm down and it will go away and you'll be able to move but the feeling would get worse. I've always been interested in astral projection and other things in that area and about 6 months after my bed first started shaking did this kind of spell with incense and i think that kind of worked because my bed did not shake anymore. I am not experienced in witchcraft and spells but have gathered info on it for years, i dnt really play around with it because i feel there is heaps more i need to learn. Although my bed doesn't shake anymore i still wake nearly everynight smetimes 2-3 times with sp and a strong awful feeling of an evil presence. I even try to open my eyes even though im scared i will see something that shouldn't be there. I've never tried to astral project before cause i always get freaked out and stop once i feel myself going but i think i might try it now. I have tried to vision things while i have sp and ask questions thinking ill get an answer but once again i get afraid because i think it is something evil like what use to shake my bed doing this to me and the feeling is not nice. A few times when ive had sp i thought i had hit my partner so he could wake me up but when i finally do come around fully and ask him he says no. I also tell him if you here me groaning wake me immediatley. I wonder why so many of us have that feeling of evil around when sp happens to us. I'd really like to change it from an awul experience to a good one but am afraid that if i astral travel something like what use to shake my bed might be waiting for me or try to get into my body. I think we just have to get passed that awful feeling and try not to be afraid, because i do believe we have a gift and there's alot more to this world than what meets the eye. Im glad i found this page its really helped me open my eyes a bit more and am going to try and make the most of sp. Goodluck every 1. And if anyone can help me not be afraid please tell me how lol. |

Sorry last comment i promise, also when i get sp i can smetimes here music, sometimes i'd know the words to the song other times i wouldn't. But when i eventually come fully awake again and snap out of it theres no music, but the words to the song i heard were right even though i didn't no them. I really believe the radio or something is on because i get freaked out because i no i didn't leave anything on. Does this make sense to anyone.

well i just woke up from the body paralysis thing, it's happened to me for about 4 years now. i don't know why it happens, but it scares teh crap out of me, especially since it happens right after a very frightening nightmare. so the memory of the nightmare, ontop of being paralyzed really freaks me out. no matter what i do, it doesn't help. while i'm in that state i vibrate myself of sorts, as well as breathe quickly in the attempts to unparralize my body (( in effect, hoping to speed up the blood flow)). i have told my boyfriend to wake me up if he ever feels me vibrating, or hears my heavy breathing, but since he sleeps like a rock it doesn't help. but at least i managed to find this sit, so i know i'm not the only one who goes through this |

Well here's my experience. I feel I should put it down to share in this special group thing. I started have this experience when I was about 7 or 8, Im 30 now and I had it like 4 times last night. The thing I dont really see in the other articles in the sensation in the back of my head and spine. Its very intense like a pulling sensation that stronger around where the spine meets the skull. I can always see and once I changed by view and kind of looked at my feet. I learned about and tried the astral projection stuff when I was in high school but I was always so scared and just couldnt really do It so I would just fight my way out, Usually with my hand or foot moving and then a little more of the limb and then I wake up. Im really going to try to see if I can tonight. I think that i can leave the body when this is going on but I just have to really relax. Its just fo freakin intense. |

i think i have encoutnered this sleep paralysis. but my experience is totally differnt, and im very confused. i think it was just a product of my dream, being half asleep; because such things just feel so real, as we "imagine" stuff in dreams. anyway... i cant remember the experience clearly, still debating if it actually happened or it was just a dream.. but the fact that i it made such an impact on me makes me think that it really happened. I am a strong christian. And a leader of my church spoke of how he couldnt breathe nor move and felt like some1 was strangling him.. so he used the name of jesus in his heart, beacuse he couldn't speak.. and it broke, and it sounded a lot like the "sleep paralysis" which many of my friends have encountered before. Anyway just last night was my first experience.. i can only remember being awake, but it was like an immediate realisation of what was going on, although it was only my first time. i couldnt really breathe, but i didn't feel suffocated. I dont even know how long it went on for, because i was able to reason in my mind, and then remain very calm. pretty much like our sub-concious mind making things up when we are asleep, they lack the reality issue, which is why i think i wasn't really afraid at all. But I sort of had this natural faith that everything was going to be fine as i tried to utter the words "jesus". I couldnt speak it out though, it was like my mouth wouldnt move. the weird thing is, if i tried to move my limbs, there would be some kind of large "pain" restricting me when i tried to lift them. At this point of my experience, i wasn't really "wide awake".. more of like semi-conscious.... or maybe i WAS awake, but I was too sleepy to remember.. I think its partly due to the fact that i just returned to "sleep" after the thing broke. not sure if i was already sleeping, its one of those "merging" kind of things, where u are so sleepy, you don't know if it really happens, u cant really tell cuz ur mind is unconscious.. Its because of this that i leave the light on at night sometimes, and can't really remember at what point i fell asleep. But i didn't realise it was on. So i woke up and saw it turned on and turned it off and return to sleep like in a sec.. it didnt feel real though but i really left it on... Its really undescribable... Anyway back to my experience, its like i recalled the account of my church leader, and after that i was like saying "jesus jesus" in my heart, about twice, the whole thing broke in a second, and it felt like blood gushed back to my whole body, like when u constrict the flow of blood to ur palms, and u suddenly release the flow again, u get the same feeling; except it was in my whole body. It was really a weird feeling. After that it felt like it was just a dream, and i went back to sleep in a Sec, so that is why im debating on whether it was real or not. Can someone help me? lol |

I am 25 and have had these experiences all my life. Until I was about 20 I would sleep fewer than 5 hours a night trying to stay awake just so I could avoid these "waking-nightmares". I have always had the the sensation of being pushed or crushed by some evil force. Sometimes it whispers in my ear, other times it seems to try to strangle me. I was an atheist until about the age of 20 and never believed it to be anything more than some nightmare. I have since found comfort and understanding through my faith and reject the notion that the evil spirits were an invention of my subconscious seeing as how I didn't believe in evil spirits. I now pray during these episodes and usually find relief that way.

i tought i was the only one to get sleep paralisys, anyway my first one happend when i was 5 until now. these are some reasons why i get them -to much sleep -if i go to sleep on my back(i havent done that in years because i also get nightmares) -not enough sleep -some stress thing and sometimes they just happen ramdomly my first years i would see a shadow in my wall moving to my bed, them it would sit on my chest, and it would not let me move.(i would also hear a high pich sound, like when your ears are ringing) after i was 10 i didn't see shadows or hear that sound(i just would not be able to move) it still is scary some times depending on how awake i am,then other times i just let it happen with out trying to move and go back to sleep. I'M GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS THIS,BYE EVERYONE |

I've just tried the preset, and once agian it amazes me but not in the way people wanted it to. You see, I didne't go into a state of trance or become paralysed. I could move my body and so on... But I sat in the state for 25 minutes (including the time I was "gone") and what I would like to call myself being "gone" happened. "Gone" is when I sit long enough in a state of mind, constantly focused on my breathing and with a cleared mind... When after a long period, I open my eyes and... Well its hard to explain but, eariler (like 10 minutes ago) the first thing that happened (I have had only 2 "Gone" experiences in all my life) was I saw the the room I was sitting in.. And it was like I was darkness became light. I start to panic abit, but although I panic, I do not escape the state of mind... I found out the only way to escape the state of mind is to pull off the headphones... What happens next I recall the light seems go into an object state... It becomes uhm... A whirl of sand (like a sandstorm in a desert) and the sand is white, purely white. And it begins to spin around me... I have tried this "Gone" only two times, and last time everything become only light and kept going brighter and brighter for each second... Next thing that happened was... You know how when you are about to fall asleep, you sort of daze very fastly down but regain yourself under meditation? Well, by accident, I did that... And when I did it, what I saw infront of me was turning into the negative colors of what it really was, like the light sand became black sand, and the voids became light... Then, and here is something I really never experienced... But I start to examine while in that state of mind anything I can, I try to look around but I can't (I think, not because I am forced to stay in the position by my mentality, but because o |
