d-Water-element

A deeply relaxing preset, helps to clear the mind of thoughts by focusing on the many subtle variations in the sounds which are geared to the cosmic modes of winter and night. Preferably played at low volume.

The seasons of the year and the times of day (morning, noon, evening, night) have musical modes corresponding to the moods they bring with them. Music attuned to the current seasonal or circadian mood exists in many cultures: traditional Chinese medicine uses sound in just this way, and the Arabs also developed musical modes for this purpose. The music of India has morning ragas, evening ragas etc. American Indian culture has different drumbeats and chants for different seasons and different directions in space. In 18th century Germany, Ivo Salzinger discovered a new system of musical harmony geared to cosmic cycles, based on the Art of Blessed Raymond Lull, and this is the system used for this preset.

The carrier frequencies in this preset are octaves of the binaural beats, and the modulations are proportioned to the binaural beats, so that the audible harmony expresses the same kind of meditative mood as the one the binaural beats induce.

This can be used at any time, but will likely be more effective at night from about 9 pm to about 3 am and especially at midnight, and even more so when the Moon is high in the sky during these hours. In the yearly cycle, it can be more effective in the winter than in the other seasons.

The soundscape, or the visual suggestion of these sounds is likely to bring impressions of water, oceans, rivers, lakes, moonlight, wintery landscapes, snow, ice, Arctic scenes etc...

Based on segment d of Ivo Salzinger's Cyclus Harmonicus, associated with the cool and moist Water element, the north, late autumn and early winter, midnight, the hours approximately from 9 pm to 3 am. For a brief description of the Cyclus Harmonicus, go to

This one didn't make me feel very enthousiastic AT FIRST. With relaxation, I a associate feeling of drowsiness, a wandering mind and things like that. I actually kept on feeling very alert, so I assumed the preset did not work.
Then suddenly, I noticed that my arms and legs were feeling very, very heavy and that I probably couldn't lift them without changing state.

I I had to reconsider and admit: great preset.

I don't know anything about the theory behind this, but I can tell some goodly bit of research went into it. The harmonies are quite sublime. Recommended.
